Valley of the Kings
Valley of the Kings, long narrow defile just west of the Nile River in Upper Egypt. It was part of the ancient city of Thebes and was the burial site of almost all the kings (pharaohs) of the 18th, 19th, and 20th dynasties (1539–1075 BCE), from Thutmose I to Ramses X. Located in the hills behind Dayr al-Baḥrī, the 62 known tombs exhibit variety both in plan and in decoration. In 1979 UNESCO designated the valley part of the World Heritage site of ancient Thebes, which also includes Luxor, the Valley of the Queens, and Karnak.

Valle Delle Regine
Valley of the Queens, gorge in the hills along the western bank of the Nile River in Upper Egypt. It was part of ancient Thebes and served as the burial site of the queens and some royal children of the 19th and 20th dynasties (1292–1075 BC). The queens’ necropolis is located about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) west of the mortuary temple of Ramses III (1187–56 BC) at Madīnat Habu. There are more than 90 known tombs, usually consisting of an entrance passage, a few short halls, and a sarcophagus chamber. The earliest may be that of Sitre, wife of Ramses I. The most notable are those of Nefertari, the favourite queen of Ramses II; of Princes Khaemwese and Amonhirkhopsef; and of a Ramesside queen called Titi. In 1979 UNESCO added the Valley of the Queens, the Valley of the Kings, Karnak, Luxor, and other sites of Thebes to the World Heritage List.

Colossi of Memnon
The two faceless Colossi of Memnon, originally representing Pharaoh Amenhotep III, rising majestically about 18m from the plain, are the first monuments tourists see when they visit the west bank. These magnificent colossi, each cut from a single block of stone and weighing 1000 tonnes, sat at the eastern entrance to the funerary temple of Amenophis III, the largest on the west bank. Egyptologists are currently excavating the temple and their discoveries can be seen behind the colossi.

Incredible experience thanks to Adi Tours
Wow! One more ticked off the bucket list. Experiencing a hot air balloon ride over the historic sights of Luxor was truly unforgettable. It was absolutely incredible from start to finish. Huge thanks to Adi Tours for organising everything so perfectly. One of the best experiences I’ve ever done. Massive thanks again to Adi Tours for making it so special.

Horrible
We were ready at 4:30am, they never showed up. The day before the local operator confirmed the activity with Viator.
Response from the operator: We’re sorry for the confusion, but we’d like to clarify the situation. This activity was cancelled by us two days in advance on Viator due to weather conditions, and the cancellation was properly processed. Your booking was never confirmed on our side, and when you called, there was no active reservation to confirm. Additionally, you received a full refund, which was completed according to Viator’s policy. Given that the tour was cancelled in advance for safety reasons and fully refunded, it’s unfair to describe our service as poor when the activity did not take place. We always prioritize guest safety and transparency, and we did everything correctly in this case.

Hot Air Balloon
Two people who have hypsophobia, tried Hot Air Balloon today! We woke up very early in the morning to see the sunrise from the balloon and accomplished it beautifully! It's very safe and if we can do it, anyone can do it! 🙂 Tried to capture some beautiful moments from the top but it was so cold but pleasant, we chose to enjoy it for a longer time! It was almost for 45 minutes, so you definitely will get a nice time up there and yeah, it's very romantic. DO NOT MISS IT if you come to Luxor! Highly recommended! Thanks to our friend for arranging this @aditravel85 🍷
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that you conquered your fear and had such an incredible experience on the hot air balloon ride! Watching the sunrise over Luxor from above is truly magical, and we’re so glad you enjoyed every moment of it. We appreciate your kind words and recommendation—it means a lot to us! Wishing you many more amazing adventures, and we’d love to welcome you again in the future. Cheers to unforgettable memories! 🥂✨ — ADI Tours

The entire experience was mind blowing as you see the valley of kings on one side and the beautiful sunrise on the other. It was one of the most surreal experiences of my life. I would definitely recommend this to everyone who visits Egypt via Adi tours. Everything was arranged meticulously and the timing was informed in advance. The representative was professional and on time to take you for the tour.
Response from the operator: Wow, thank you so much for your amazing review! We're over the moon (or should I say, over the Valley of the Kings 😉) that you had such a mind-blowing experience on the hot air balloon ride. Watching the sunrise paired with the incredible views truly is something special, and we’re thrilled we could make that moment happen for you. It’s great to hear that everything went smoothly and that our team kept everything on time and stress-free for you. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we’d love to welcome you back anytime you’re ready for another Egyptian adventure! Warm regards, Ahmed Adel ADI Tours Team

Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride over Luxor West Bank: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Luxor.
How much does Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride over Luxor West Bank cost?
+
Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Luxor usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride over Luxor West Bank take?
+
Plan for about 3.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Luxor is not rushed.
Is Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride over Luxor West Bank worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 25 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Luxor, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride over Luxor West Bank?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride over Luxor West Bank suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride over Luxor West Bank?
+
Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Luxor can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Luxor and add a light layer if any part of the 3.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride over Luxor West Bank start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Luxor within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Luxor?
+
On Outty we rank every Luxor experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Half Day Luxor Tour Valley of Kings & Queens, Hatshepsut, Full Day Tour to East and West Banks of Luxor (Private), Full Day Tour of Luxor private. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Luxor?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Luxor?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride over Luxor West Bank?
+

Does Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride over Luxor West Bank include hotel pickup?

+
