Terrible experience with injury.
The vendors judgment caused me to hurt my hand. The captain unexpectedly, as a stunt, set the balloon down in a farm field. My husband and I are active seniors but we were expected to tumble out of the basket, without the aid of a stool, most unexpectedly. The Captain never communicated what he was about to do. I hurt my hand trying to crawl out of the basket which he just turned over Into a rugged terrain with dirt, sticks, ruts etc. and had no regard for our age, safety, or embarrassment at such a stunt. The Captain never apologized though he knew I was very upset. All he was preoccupied with getting a tip from the passengers. The owner also had no regard. I’ve been on a balloon ride in Turkey which was great, safe and returned the balloon to the safe starting point. AVOID THIS BOOKING. It was very very boring and the judgment of the vendor and Captain is very poor.

Awesome & Thrilling Way To See Chiang Mai
We had a great time doing the hot air balloon adventure here when we went to Chiang Mai earlier this year, it was definitely a 'bucket list' moment that we've always wanted to do and will remember for all our lives! Thanks again to all the wonderful staff on this tour who made this trip so special for us! W definitely recommend this tour to anyone thinking of doing this in Thailand too.

Worth the time!
Really fun! They picked us up from our hotel in old town, the basket was only 4 passengers and the driver so it wasn’t overwhelming. 45 min ride and taking off/landing was really smooth

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Adventure in Chiang Mai?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chiang Mai can sell out a month out. What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chiang Mai and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Chiang Mai?
+
On Outty we rank every Chiang Mai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half-Day Thai Cooking Class at Organic Farm in Chiang Mai, Full Day Thai Cooking at Farm (Chiang Mai), Thai and Akha Cooking Class in Chiang Mai. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Chiang Mai?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Chiang Mai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
