What you get

    About this experience

Step aboard Suncoast Horizon, a real working schooner and experience what sailing is actually supposed to feel like. No roaring engines. No canned tour script. Just wind in the sails, salt in the air, and the kind of quiet glide across the water you don’t forget. We sail the Gulf whenever conditions allow on wide open water, dolphins in the wake, seabirds overhead. When Mother Nature says otherwise, we tuck into the calm, scenic waters of Boca Ciega Bay. Either way, you’re on the water the right way: under sail. Bring your favorite adult drinks or purchase from our store (BYOB, we’ve got the cooler and ice covered), enjoy great music, and kick back with a crew that knows how to read the wind and read the room. Complimentary water and an onboard restroom keep things easy. This is a shared sail with a limited group: laid-back, not crowded, and never cookie-cutter. If you want the boat to yourself, ask about private charters. Real boat. Real sailing. No gimmicks.

    Great experience sailing

It was so relaxing, the views were beautiful and the crew was great. They only allow up to 28 people so it’s great for smaller groups and couples. We highly recommend it!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We're thrilled you enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere, beautiful views, and our crew. One of the things that makes sailing with us special is our smaller group size, giving everyone plenty of room to spread out, take in the scenery, and enjoy a more personal experience on the water. Thank you for recommending us! We truly appreciate your support and hope to welcome you back aboard for another sunset sail soon. —Richie

Absolutely fab - stop looking and book this!

It was fabulous!!! If you were like us - comparing prices, reviews and experience, then stop! And book this. You are not guaranteed dolphin sightings - why?! Because it is nature and nature is unpredictable! The same with manatees… However we got lucky and saw both! It is a real sailing boat, with minimal people which makes it special. We took on our drinks and it was just a really special end to our holiday. We saw another boat and it was absolutely packed and under cover. we were open, at least 1/2 of the people and was so serene. Thanks!!!

Response from the operator: Wow! Thank you for such an incredible review! We love that you pointed out something we always try to share with our guests: while we can never promise dolphins or manatees, we can promise an authentic sailing experience aboard a real schooner. When nature decides to make an appearance, it's just the icing on the cake! We're also thrilled you enjoyed the smaller group size and relaxed atmosphere. We believe that's what makes a sunset sail so special: plenty of room to spread out, take in the views, and simply enjoy being on the water. Thank you for choosing to spend the end of your holiday with us. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope your travels bring you back to Treasure Island so we can welcome you aboard again!-Richie

Suncoast Sailing's Sunset Sailing Experience!: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for St Petersburg.

How much does Suncoast Sailing's Sunset Sailing Experience! cost?

    +

Prices start at $70 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in St Petersburg usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Suncoast Sailing's Sunset Sailing Experience! take?

    +

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in St Petersburg is not rushed.

Is Suncoast Sailing's Sunset Sailing Experience! worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 83 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 282 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in St Petersburg, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Suncoast Sailing's Sunset Sailing Experience!?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Suncoast Sailing's Sunset Sailing Experience! suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Suncoast Sailing's Sunset Sailing Experience!?

    +

Around 99 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in St Petersburg can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in St Petersburg and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Suncoast Sailing's Sunset Sailing Experience! start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central St Petersburg within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in St Petersburg?

    +

St Petersburg pairs beach time with a dense arts district: Dali Museum entry, mural walking tours, clear-kayak paddles through mangrove tunnels and boat runs out to Egmont Key and Shell Key. On Outty we rank every St Petersburg experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Clear Kayak Tour of Shell Key Preserve and Tampa Bay Area, St. Petersburg Jungle Prada Site History Tour, Island Sunset and Skyway Light Show - 3hr Boat Cruise in St. Pete. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit St Petersburg?

    +

October to April, before the summer heat and afternoon storms. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in St Petersburg?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
