Useless

Useless. Nowhere it states a minimum quantity before the bus departs. But we had to wait like fools hoping to reach the minimum quantity. Have a megapass but get sent up and down to have a ticket printed after we've been in the office for how long and then the ticket doesnt even work.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback, and we are sorry for the frustration caused by the delays and ticket issues you experienced. Under certain circumstances the sunset tour departure do require minimum passenger numbers to operate. We appreciate your comments and will work on making this information more visible and clearly communicated to guests going forward. We also apologise for the inconvenience caused with the Mega Pass ticket printing and validation process, and your feedback has been shared with the relevant team for review.

Service refused

I am not giving 1 star because I was very satisfied with the experience before this incident occurred. We booked the premium tour for March 6th and 7th, 2026. On March 6th, we boarded the sunset tour bus but decided to get off again because the fog was extremely heavy and visibility was only a few meters. When we tried to board the bus again on March 7th, we were initially refused entry. Even worse, the employee we spoke to started shouting at me, despite the fact that I remained polite throughout the conversation. After speaking with a manager, the situation was resolved because our tickets had only been scanned and not actually used. However, even if the tickets had been used, I believe it would have been reasonable customer service to offer the second ride given that the visibility the previous day was extremely poor. We have also booked an Xplorer Tour for March 12th, but this experience has made us reconsider whether we want to continue with that booking. I hope the company will address this issue, provide additional training to the staff member involved, and clarify the customer service policy in situations like this.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback and we are glad that you enjoyed our services on 6 and 7 March. We hope you had a good sunset bus trip on the night of the 7 March. We are sorry to read that one of our staff members was not polite and this information has been passed onto our operations team so they can chat to the staff member involved and we do appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

A lovely way to see Cape Town

It’s a popular spot so don’t expect to have it to yourself but the views are truly spectacular and personally I would not risk the drive up Signal Hill in my own car as it gets quite busy and congested. I was thankful that it was as the driver’s responsibility to get us back safely.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the spectacular views. Safety and comfort are always our priority, and we’re happy that our Sunset Bus Tour allowed you to relax and take in the scenery without the stress of driving.

Summer Sunset Bus Tour in Cape Town: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cape Town.

How much does Summer Sunset Bus Tour in Cape Town cost?

+

Prices start at $165 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cape Town usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Summer Sunset Bus Tour in Cape Town take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cape Town is not rushed.

Is Summer Sunset Bus Tour in Cape Town worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 42 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cape Town, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Summer Sunset Bus Tour in Cape Town?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Summer Sunset Bus Tour in Cape Town suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Summer Sunset Bus Tour in Cape Town?

+

Around 15 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cape Town can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cape Town and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Summer Sunset Bus Tour in Cape Town start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cape Town within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cape Town?

+

On Outty we rank every Cape Town experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Penguins Day Tour from Cape Town, Table Mountain, Boulders Penguins and Cape point Day Tour, Wine Tour: Paarl, Franschhoek & Stellenbosch incl 3 wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cape Town?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cape Town?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
