Challenging but a great ride!
I had a blast spending the day with Kom and Vi. Both of them are excellent guides and a lot of fun to hang out with. They are incredibly knowledgeable and always made sure I was as prepared as I could be for each part of the trail. As a beginner to mountain biking, the course was quite challenging, but overall, it was a great experience!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! We're so glad to hear you had a blast with Kom and Vivi. It’s awesome that they made your experience both fun and educational while ensuring you felt well-prepared for each part of the trail. We totally understand that as a beginner, the course can be challenging, but it’s fantastic to know you still had a great time. Hope to see you out on more trails in the future!

This is heaven
This trip will bring you to heaven if you like cycling and are in good condition and have the necessary technical skills for the descent. It is steep, really steep 20%+. We were on the edge and I need to admit we didn't do the whole course on the bike we had two walk on some tracks as it was simply too steep. The guides Lek and Matthew were amazing , really helpful and had good humour. They made awesome pictures and shared those the day after. Superb!
Response from the operator: We truly appreciate your 5-star review! Thank you so much for joining us on this journey, your presence made it all the more special. We understand that the climb was challenging, and we're glad our guide was able to provide the support you needed. Wishing you and your family a healthy and happy life until we meet again for the next adventure!

Awesome, amazing, brilliant.
I did 4 of the full on mountain bike rides. Great trails, great guides. Stairway to Heaven by far and away the best. When I'm back in Chiang Mai next I'll be riding with Trailhead.
Response from the operator: Thanks for taking the time to review us on Trip Advisor. It was great hosting you for all of the MTB tours, Stairway to Heaven is indeed amazing and a guide favourite! We look forward to seeing you again in the future.

My Best Day on a Bike to Date!
I returned to Chiang Mai for the sole purpose of doing more bike trips with Trailhead having previously done Buffalo Soldier and Thriller. This route was a challenge for me being a fairly inexperienced mountain biker but having completed it, I would say that it is entirely manageable if you have previously done a few trails. My guide Kom, is a consummate professional in so many disciplines and puts me to shame the way he flies up the hills on his bike while I virtually always have to walk! Kom manages to take video and photos of me while negotiating the trail and giving me verbal support. My second guide for this trail was Lek who provided excellent support for the first part of the day before driving ahead to the finish. Lek then joined us and led the way on the final flowy section showing me how it is done. I learned a lot just on that final section and gained a bit more confidence in my riding. The Trailhead team think of everything in preparing your day and you really only need to turn up with with a sense of humour. As well as providing a top-of-the-range full suspension mountain bike, you get the full safety gear, rucksack, gloves, as much water as you can drink, energy gel packs, snacks and a cold fresh coconut to drink at the end of the day. Don't forget a tasty lunch on the way back at a local village restaurant. If you are still not sure, do what I did and drop in to their coffee shop in town and have a chat with whoever is there, they are all really friendly and always go the extra mile to help you out. I have just booked my fourth trip with them!
Response from the operator: Thanks for taking the time to review us on Trip Advisor. It's great to see the progress from Buffalo Soldier to Stairway to Heaven, we agree its a decent challenge but worthwhile for the unique experience. We look forward to you dropping by in the near future for a coffee!

Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Stairway to Heaven Trail Mountain Biking Tour Chiang Mai: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chiang Mai.
How much does Stairway to Heaven Trail Mountain Biking Tour Chiang Mai cost?
+
Prices start at $3589 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chiang Mai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Stairway to Heaven Trail Mountain Biking Tour Chiang Mai take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chiang Mai is not rushed.
Is Stairway to Heaven Trail Mountain Biking Tour Chiang Mai worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Chiang Mai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Stairway to Heaven Trail Mountain Biking Tour Chiang Mai?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Stairway to Heaven Trail Mountain Biking Tour Chiang Mai suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 15. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 8-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Stairway to Heaven Trail Mountain Biking Tour Chiang Mai?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chiang Mai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chiang Mai and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Stairway to Heaven Trail Mountain Biking Tour Chiang Mai start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chiang Mai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Chiang Mai?
+
On Outty we rank every Chiang Mai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half-Day Thai Cooking Class at Organic Farm in Chiang Mai, Full Day Thai Cooking at Farm (Chiang Mai), Thai and Akha Cooking Class in Chiang Mai. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Chiang Mai?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Chiang Mai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
