What you'll see and do
Scottish Highlands
Guests will be able to visit several distilleries on Speyside. It’s about a 1 hour drive from Inverness to Speyside itself. I normally recommend one tour and a few tastings with a spot of lunch too. Here are just a few distilleries it would be possible to visit- Tomatin, Glenlivet, Glenfarclas, Ballindalloch, Glenallachie, Glenfiddich and Speyburn to name a few.

Speyside Tour
Enjoyed a beautiful drive through Speyside with Robert. He kept us well entertained and informed. We experienced 3 distilleries with tastings plus a couple of stops to see interesting sights. Robert also found us a great lunch place in a charming town. He was prompt and helpful with funny narratives and took MANY 😁 photos of us. We had a really enjoyable day.
Response from the operator: Hi Amy, delighted you enjoyed your day. Thanks for the lovely review, appreciate you taking the time. Take care and very best wishes. David.

Couldn’t recommend this tour more!
We had such an amazing whiskey tasting experience in Inverness, and Robert was absolutely incredible! He was so knowledgeable about whiskey and made the experience fun, interesting, and enjoyable from start to finish. You could really tell how passionate and knowledgeable he was. We actually had a scheduling conflict during our trip, and Robert went above and beyond to accommodate us and help work everything out. He was so kind, understanding, and flexible, and we truly appreciated everything he did to make sure we still had a great experience. Robert was not only an amazing driver and guide, but he genuinely cared about making sure we had the best time possible. He exceeded our expectations in every way! We would HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone visiting Inverness and wanting to experience Scottish whiskey. And if you’re lucky enough to have Robert as your driver, you’re in for an amazing day! 🥃🏴
Response from the operator: Thank you so much, what a fantastic review. Just delighted you had such a good time and enjoyed Robert’s company. Take care and very best wishes. David.

This is a must do...
This is a must do experience if you want to do whiskey tasting in the region. Our guide/driver Robert was fantastic. He was very engaged and knowledgeable and catered the entire trip for us. We provided them with one must see place and left the rest up to Robert. It didn’t disappoint. We asked to be surprised and every stop we went to was fantastic. Robert knew what to do at each place and that made our trip more enjoyable and impactful. Highly recommend to travel with Robert as he was able to explain a lot of things but even more so he was engaging and fun and made the experience beyond what we expected. Took my dad, a big whisky fan, on this trip on his birthday and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and gift
Response from the operator: Jatin, thank you so much for your lovely review. Delighted you enjoyed your day and especially happy for your father on his birthday. Take care and best wishes David.

Best personalized tour ever
Robert took us around five Speyside distilleries in a day and somehow it never felt rushed or like a package tour. He’d built the route around what we actually wanted to taste, and he was happy to stretch time at the places we liked and move on quickly from the ones we didn’t. That flexibility made the whole day. He’s also very good company. Knows the whisky properly (the distillery staff clearly knew him too), explains it without lecturing, and is genuinely funny. We came away having learned a lot and laughed a lot, which isn’t an easy combination to pull off. If I am doing the speyside ever again will definitely book him.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much, what a really lovely review. Delighted you enjoyed yourselves. Many thanks again David.

Highly recommend
This experience is totally worth the investment. Robert is knowledgeable, professional and a lot of fun. He shows interest in what you like and plans the day around that. It was a lovely day and I would do it again if we return to the area!
Response from the operator: Fantastic Bruce, appreciate your kind words. Glad you enjoyed it. All the best David.

Why this scores 72
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Speyside Whisky Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Inverness.
How much does Speyside Whisky Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $480 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Inverness usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Speyside Whisky Tour take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Inverness is not rushed.
Is Speyside Whisky Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 107 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Inverness, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Speyside Whisky Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Speyside Whisky Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Speyside Whisky Tour?
+
Around 37 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Inverness can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Inverness and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Speyside Whisky Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Inverness within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Inverness?
+
On Outty we rank every Inverness experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Ultimate Isle of Skye Day Tour from Inverness, Isle of Skye and Eilean Donan Castle Day Tour from Inverness, Loch Ness, Outlander & Urquhart Castle from Inverness. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Inverness?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Inverness?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
