An experience I'll NEVER forget!

Willy has been the most amazing guide for our group. Although we spent a week with Willy, it wasn't enough! The raw experiences are absolutely eye-opening and I couldn't thank him enough for that. I now have a high-bar of expectations for future endeavors and guides, but I truly want to thank Willy for his hard work, dedication, and knowledge he showed us on our one in a lifetime trip.

Response from the operator: Good Da, Mount Zion Tours And Travels is very please that you have enjoyed your stay in South Africa and your tour. The entire team wish you all the best back home and hope to see you again. Regards

    Soweto

Firstly the guide was an hour late. He had some story about his Google map not working, but at the end of the day we found out that he had forgotten to recharge his cell phone. No water was provided, no lunch, we went all day until 15:30 without anything to drink or eat. I will not recommend to anyone. I have done this tour before, but this time I was not impressed.

Tour operator is just a taxi driver

A group of 11 friends booked a tour to soweto from our hotel at the airport to see Soweto. Whilst we were driven there and back via the stadium, we were told very little and dropped a block from Vilakazi street and had to walk down Vilakazi street on our own. Not a very well conducted tour.

Response from the operator: Good Day , Thank you for your review and first of all for allowing us to be part of your South African Holiday. I believe for you to choose our company, is because you have seen so many positive review from our previous clients. Our aim is to make sure that we create African experience and memories that will always be remembered by our client even once they are back home. I truly apologize if we could not meet your expectation and we are promising you that we shall improve. Regards Willy

I booked this tour thinking i would...

I booked this tour thinking i would be picked up from my hotel as i was near the airport BUT no i had to pay an extra 500 rand, on the day the Supplier Mount Zion Tours and Travel the driver arrived on time in his own old car and off we went. Got to Soweto was shown everything that was in the IT except for the following, NO water, No visit to an informal settlement, No walk through the Reginal Mundi Church, No optional African Buffet Lunch and No Visit to a local Shebeen and taste a type of beer which by this time i was looking forward too. Then on the way back i said to driver are we to see the Soccer City Stadium soon and with that he turned around and about 10-15 minutes later saw the Stadium for a picture. It seemed i was a trouble to them with my hotel out at the airport.

    Response from the operator:
TOUR OPERATOR FEEDBACK: Thank you for reviewing us and for sharing your comments with us. The voucher recommends that the client called us a day before to confirm their Pick-Up. If your hotel does not fall under the location where free pick up is allowed, we normally request our valued clients make it to the nearest pick up or if they prefer, we pick them up but with extra charge, which was the case with you. Concerning Buffet Lunch, if you would kindly review the inclusions and exclusions on the tour's brochure page, you will see that "Buffet Lunch" is an option, not included. We hope you were still able to enjoy your overall time in Johannesburg.

Soweto Township Experience Tour from Johannesburg: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Pretoria.

How much does Soweto Township Experience Tour from Johannesburg cost?

    +

Prices start at $119 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pretoria usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Soweto Township Experience Tour from Johannesburg take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Pretoria is not rushed.

Is Soweto Township Experience Tour from Johannesburg worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (2.8/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Pretoria, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Soweto Township Experience Tour from Johannesburg?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Soweto Township Experience Tour from Johannesburg suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Soweto Township Experience Tour from Johannesburg?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pretoria can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pretoria and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Soweto Township Experience Tour from Johannesburg start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Pretoria within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Pretoria?

    +

On Outty we rank every Pretoria experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Soweto Cultural Walking Tour with Lunch, Guided Bicycle Tour of Soweto with Lunch, Johannesburg and Soweto tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Pretoria?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Pretoria?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in Soweto Township Experience Tour from Johannesburg?

    +

Included: Hotel pickup and drop-off; Bottled water; Driver/guide; Local professional guide; and Transport by air-conditioned minivan. Not included: Alcoholic drinks (available to purchase); Drinks; Food and drinks; and Gratuities. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

Does Soweto Township Experience Tour from Johannesburg include hotel pickup?

    +

Yes, pickup is offered for every traveler from 227 listed pickup locations in and around Pretoria. Be ready about 60 minutes before the start time. You can also enter a custom pickup address when booking.

What languages is Soweto Township Experience Tour from Johannesburg offered in?

    +

It is offered in English and French. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.

Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for Soweto Township Experience Tour from Johannesburg?

    +

Confirmation is sent by the operator after booking, usually within 48 hours; if it is not confirmed you are not charged. Mobile tickets are accepted, so you can show the voucher on your phone.

Is Soweto Township Experience Tour from Johannesburg wheelchair or stroller accessible?

    +

The operator notes: Wheelchair accessible; Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller; Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap; and Specialized infant seats are available. If accessibility is critical, contact the operator after booking to confirm arrangements for your date.

What happens to Soweto Township Experience Tour from Johannesburg if the weather is bad?

    +

It generally runs rain or shine, so dress for the forecast in Pretoria. Standard cancellation terms apply: free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start.
