South Iceland and Glacier Lagoon: Jökulsárlón with Boat Tour

Had a great time.

Lasma was great. Very knowledgeable. Safe driving. All the stops were also soo breathtaking. The glaciers and waterfalls never disappoint

Opt for a smaller and/or shorter tour

We had high hopes for this tour given the very high ratings, but we were disappointed. We made a mistake opting for a full bus rather than a small group tour, as the bus load created its own flash crowd at the rest stops. When we stopped for lunch, we didn’t feel we had time to stay in the huge line for the regular lunch items, and instead stayed in the moderate line for a cashier to prepay hot dogs and move to another line (though many only found that out after waiting in the hot dogs and move line without paying). We had trouble hearing the PA system for the first couple of hours, over the roar of the bus, and couldn’t get the guide to correct it until we stopped. So we missed a great deal of narration. Once we could hear, the tour was informative. The bus driver was aggressive, tailgating far too much for my comfort, and sometimes passing multiple cars at once on the ring road. I texted a picture to my kids saying if we died in a crash, they should be aware! Shortly after that, we had a fender-bender with a car trying to pass the bus clipping the bus - neither party stopped, and unclear who was at fault. We felt we spent too much time at some stops and not enough at others. In all, it was a really really long day. I think it better to go on a tour that doesn’t cram so much into one trip, and to avoid full busloads if at all possible.
