Skogafoss
Prepare to be awestruck by one of Iceland’s biggest and most beautiful waterfalls. With a staggering 60-meter drop, Skógafoss produces a powerful mist that frequently creates vivid double rainbows on sunny days. You can walk right up to the base of the falls to feel its immense power or climb the 527 steps to the observation deck for a breathtaking view of the coastline and the Eyjafjallajökull glacier volcano.
50 minutes here · Admission included
Next, we make a sightseeing stop and lunch break at Reynisfjara. Here you can walk along the world-famous black sands of Reynisfjara, voted one of the most beautiful non-tropical beaches on Earth. Marvel at the enormous hexagonal basalt columns and the jagged Reynisdrangar sea stacks rising from the North Atlantic. Your guide will provide a vital safety briefing regarding the area's powerful "sneaker waves" - note the warning level on the installed signage.
60 minutes here
Crashed DC 3 Plane
Upon arrival at the Sólheimasandur parking area, you'll board a transfer vehicle to drive across the hauntingly beautiful black sands to the famous DC 3 Plane Wreck. This abandoned US Navy aircraft has become one of Iceland’s most cinematic landmarks—featured in major music videos and films. You’ll have time to explore the wreckage and capture photos (without the exhaustion of the almost 2-hour walk across the black sand field to the plane!) before boarding the transfer back.

Vik Church
We isit the famous Vík church for views of the town and sea stacks
15 minutes here
Dyrholaey
Ascend to the "Door Hill Island" for the most spectacular 360-degree views on the South Coast. From this 120-meter high promontory, you can look west across the endless black coastline toward Seljalandsfoss, and east to the Reynisdrangar sea stacks. Your guide will lead you to the best vantage points to see the massive stone arch—a natural wonder carved by the sea—and the historic white lighthouse that has guarded these cliffs for over a century.

Solheimajokull Glacier
Witness the raw power of nature at Sólheimasjökull, a magnificent "outlet glacier" flowing from the mighty Mýrdalsjökull ice cap. Take a scenic walk to the edge of the glacier’s retreating ice wall and its stunning glacial lagoon. Please note: This stop is for sightseeing and viewing the glacier from the lagoon area. It does not include a guided hike onto the ice itself.

Seljalandsfoss waterfall
Visit a waterfall where you can walk behind a 60-meter-tall curtain of water. Seljalandsfoss is unique because of the wide cavern that allows you to fully encircle the falls. From behind the cascade, you’ll have a spectacular view of the South Coast through a veil of mist. It is a powerful, sensory experience that is a must-see for any visitor. We recommend bringing your waterproof gear for this stop, as the spray is part of the fun!

Awesome
The tour was awesome more so through the mesmerising talk of guide magga ,She made us feel our 12 hr tour like it got over in a flick of second by her relentless, informative narration through out.
Response from the operator: Hi there, thank you for sharing! A 12-hour day on the South Coast is a long one, so when the guide's storytelling makes it feel like it flew by, that's the whole thing working as it should. Arctic Adventures Team

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
South Coast Highlights & DC-3 Plane Wreck Small-Group Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.
How much does South Coast Highlights & DC-3 Plane Wreck Small-Group Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $145 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does South Coast Highlights & DC-3 Plane Wreck Small-Group Tour take?
+
Plan for about 13.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.
Is South Coast Highlights & DC-3 Plane Wreck Small-Group Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 72 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule South Coast Highlights & DC-3 Plane Wreck Small-Group Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is South Coast Highlights & DC-3 Plane Wreck Small-Group Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 13.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book South Coast Highlights & DC-3 Plane Wreck Small-Group Tour?
+
Around 25 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 13.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does South Coast Highlights & DC-3 Plane Wreck Small-Group Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?
+
On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Reykjavik?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
