About this experience

This tour combines history and culture with the naturalistic character of the visiting places, which compile into a very romantic, sophisticated green scenery. What you'll see and do

  1. Lake Vouliagmeni

During our afternoon tour we will drive through some of the most scenic suburbs of Athens, following a coastal road. Our first stop will be at the Vouliagmeni Lake, the hidden treasure of the ‘Athenian Riviera’. In an idyllic location, the lake is part of a rare geological phenomenon, having been revealed after the collapse of the roof of a cave, caused by an earthquake millions of years ago. Lake Vouliagmeni has a steady temperature all around the year, ranging between 18 and 24 Celcius, and its water is brackish, as underground sea water is mixed with the water of a spring. This makes it an ideal location for swimmers who visit the lake to profit from its water, rich in minerals. (Short stop- no time for swimming in this tour)

  2. Temple of Poseidon

Sounion, an impressive rocky promontory, is the southernmost point of Attica region. It is located approx. 60 Km away from Athens city centre. It is most famous for its imposing ancient Temple of Poseidon and its breathtaking sunset view, overlooking the Aegean Sea. Admire the beautiful sunset colors in the sky, from the highest point of the hill.

Beautiful Site. The tour company saved the day.

I messed up our tour dates and the tour company bent over backwards and saved the day. George was our driver and was excellent. The van was very comfortable. The Poseidon Temple at sunset should not be missed.

Beautiful sunset trip to Cape Sunion

Fantastic trip to Cape Sunion with a stop at the stunning Lake Vouliagmeni. Skilled and professional driver, with exelent knowledge about the area and Greec history. We chose to do another trip with the same driver the next day. We learned a lot about the area, took beautiful pictures, had a drink in the sunset at the bar nearby and felt safe in the car at all times. Highly recommended.

Response from the operator: Dear Renathe, Thank you very much for posting such a very generous review. We are very happy that you had great time while using our services for the Sounion Sunset Tour and that we managed to fulfil your expectations. Our Best Regards, Aristotelis Dalitsikas

Wonderful sunset tour along the coast of Athens!

This was one of the best tours we did while in Greece. It was a magnificent drive along the coast of Athens, with a brief stopover at the Vouliagmeni Lake and then to the Poseidon Temple at Cape Sounion to watch the sunset. It was an amazing experience and worth every penny. The tour charges are reasonable and we travelled in a luxury Mercedes Viano. Thanks to our chaffeur and guide Alexander for driving us safely and showing us around with clear explanations and also showing some flexibility to show some additional spots en route. Thanks are also due to Aristotelis Dalitsikas of Private Best Travel who arranged for the tour and constantly kept in touch to ensure that everything went well. I would strongly recommend people visiting Athens to look them up and I am sure you wouldn't regret hiring their services.

Response from the operator: Dear Raja, Thank you very much for taking the time to post this "excellent" review. We are very happy that you had good time in your tour with us and that we managed to fulfil your expectations. We are looking forward to welcome you again in the furure. My Best Regards, Aristotelis

Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Sunset Tour from Athens: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.

How much does Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Sunset Tour from Athens cost?

+

Prices start at $290 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Sunset Tour from Athens take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.

Is Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Sunset Tour from Athens worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Sunset Tour from Athens?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Sunset Tour from Athens suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Sunset Tour from Athens?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Sunset Tour from Athens start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Athens?

+

On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Athens?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Athens?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
