An Unforgettable 9-Day Horse Trek Across Kyrgyzstan (10/10)
I recently completed an incredible nine-day horse trekking tour through Kyrgyzstan, and I would recommend it without hesitation to anyone looking to experience the country’s breathtaking beauty from the saddle. As someone with very limited riding experience, the guides were brilliant at building my confidence with their well-behaved horses (though a few additional riding tips along the way would have been a welcome bonus!). The landscapes were stunning, and both the meals and accommodation were very well looked after. Our tour guide was exceptionally friendly, and by the end of the trip, the whole group felt like close friends. The itinerary was balanced really well. The first half around Song-Kul involved long days in the saddle, whilst the riding times shortened when we reached Kel-Suu Lake. This was a welcome shift, as my body definitely needed some rest after the initial long days. Essential Tips for Future Travellers: Water Supply: -I highly advise bringing a water filter (and perhaps purification tablets), as clean drinking water isn’t readily available everywhere. The alternative is buying bottled water in the city, but you’ll have to haul it with you. Clothing & Layers: -We were blessed with warm, sunny weather, so heavy winter gear wasn't needed during the day. However, temperatures drop significantly at night, so packing plenty of layers is a must. Packing & Gear: -Bring a microfibre/quick-drying towel for enjoying the saunas, rivers, and lakes. For the three-day Kel-Suu excursion, you can only take the essentials; plan ahead by using dry bags to divide your gear equally and keep it watertight. Rented Equipment: -Renting a helmet and sleeping bag through the tour was ideal. The provided mummy-style sleeping bag was comfortably warm (though only needed for one night). Health & Altitude: - I didn't need altitude medication, but I strongly recommend bringing treatment for indigestion. The oilier local dishes combined with cooler mountain air can be tough on the stomach! SIM Cards & Connectivity: -You can pick up an O! eSIM very cheaply on arrival (around €2.50 for 50GB), but coverage in the mountains is sparse. Be prepared to go off-grid for long stretches, or pay roughly €5 for Wi-Fi at the camps that offer it. Alternatively, do what I did and simply embrace the serenity! Cash: -Taking 8,500 Som as recommended was spot on. Almost all meals and logistics are included, so daily expenses are minimal.

Song Kul and Kel Suu Horse Trekking Expedition in Kyrgyzstan: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bishkek.
How much does Song Kul and Kel Suu Horse Trekking Expedition in Kyrgyzstan cost?
+
Prices start at $2000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bishkek usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Song Kul and Kel Suu Horse Trekking Expedition in Kyrgyzstan take?
+
Plan for about 216 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bishkek is not rushed.
Is Song Kul and Kel Suu Horse Trekking Expedition in Kyrgyzstan worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 1 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Bishkek, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Song Kul and Kel Suu Horse Trekking Expedition in Kyrgyzstan?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 144 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Song Kul and Kel Suu Horse Trekking Expedition in Kyrgyzstan suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 20. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 216-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Song Kul and Kel Suu Horse Trekking Expedition in Kyrgyzstan?
+
Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bishkek can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bishkek and add a light layer if any part of the 216-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Song Kul and Kel Suu Horse Trekking Expedition in Kyrgyzstan start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bishkek within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Bishkek?
+
On Outty we rank every Bishkek experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include All-Inclusive Day Trip: Burana, Canyons & Issyk Kul with Pickup, 2-Day Issyk Kul Small Group Tour with Yurt Stay and Eagle Show, Ala Archa Nature Park Essential Half Day Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Bishkek?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Bishkek?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
