    Fantastic cooking class

June is a experienced and friendly teacher. We had so much fun buying ingredients at the market. She made it seem easy to cook the various dishes which turned out to be so delicious!

Response from the operator: Dear Andre, Thank you for your kind words! We’re so happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience with June and had fun exploring the market. Cooking should be enjoyable and approachable, and we’re glad June made it feel easy while guiding you through delicious Thai dishes. We hope you’ll try recreating the recipes at home and that you’ll join us again for more culinary adventures in the future! Best regards, Nick (IAsia Thailand Online)

    5 Star experience

5 Star experience for everyone. From the start they are waiting for you outside to make sure you are welcomed and guided inside. There were solo participants, couples, friends and even a family with 2 little kids. They take care of you at every moment, guiding you in the market, carefully showing the preparation of each dish before you try and of course during your turn. They have a team that coordinates beautifully to support the main cook, preparing the ingredients, clearing used elements, cleaning... This is a complete experience, including an element of competition which makes it fun and helps with the interaction between groups. We learned a lot (new ingredients, how to select, how to prepare, how to cook) and enjoyed the exquisite meal afterwards. Can't recommend this enough.

Response from the operator: Dear Claudia, Thank you for sharing your amazing experience with Sompong Thai Cooking School! It sounds like the team truly goes above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and included, regardless of group size or cooking background. From the seamless organization and support during cooking to the interactive elements and learning new skills, it sounds like an experience packed with fun and flavor! So glad you enjoyed the hands-on learning and delicious meal—thanks for the fantastic recommendation! Regards, Nick (IAsia Thailand Online)

    Exquisitely choreographed multi dimensional experience

this is a very professional cooking school which caters to everybody from supermarket packet cooks to near professionals. they have been open since 2008 and I suspect that they have been tweaking and perfecting the experience ever since. it is extremely well choreographed with detailed demonstrations followed by practice. there is a behind the scenes team which sets up everything beautifully for all participants while cooks are watching the entertaining demonstrations. The teacher also gives everybody a taste of her expert dish. there is a competitive element in the middle which is a lot of fun. everything is set up as a visual spectacle of traditional Thai decor. it is a thoroughly enjoyable experience and the food was fabulous. The teacher showed us how to adapt supermarket packet mixes as well as showing us to garnish dishes to make them look professional. for the is Jude cook she shows the fine points of what to look for at each stage of the cooking process. she also teaches chopping techniques and you get a lesson at the market of the different food families and the differences between the vegetable components.

Response from the operator: Hi Erica, It’s so nice of you to take the time to review the Sompong cooking school. This is one of our busier and top rated cooking classes and we are so pleased that you had time To experience this with us. I am sure the team would thank you for your support Regards. Nick

Sompong Thai Cooking School: Hands-On Culinary Experience: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bangkok.

How much does Sompong Thai Cooking School: Hands-On Culinary Experience cost?

    +

Prices start at $1660 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bangkok usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sompong Thai Cooking School: Hands-On Culinary Experience take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bangkok is not rushed.

Is Sompong Thai Cooking School: Hands-On Culinary Experience worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bangkok, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sompong Thai Cooking School: Hands-On Culinary Experience?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sompong Thai Cooking School: Hands-On Culinary Experience suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Sompong Thai Cooking School: Hands-On Culinary Experience?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bangkok can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bangkok and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sompong Thai Cooking School: Hands-On Culinary Experience start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bangkok within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bangkok?

    +

On Outty we rank every Bangkok experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Bangkok Backstreets Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, Old Siam Bangkok Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, Tingly Thai Cooking Class with Morning Market Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bangkok?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bangkok?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
