Rocca di Solferino
The Rocca di Solferino, the Spy of Italy, a millenary fortress, with inside numerous relics of the Battle of June 24, 1859 and a solemn Hall of the Sovereigns. It represents the highest point in the Province of Mantua and on the terrace you can enjoy a splendid panoramic view. The tower is surrounded by a green park. The guided tour is not included but only the access to the Rocca.

Beautiful : a dive into the history of the Italian Risorgimento
Austere and solitary, the tower stands on the back of the hill of San Martino visible from miles away. Well accessible and indicated with the possibility of parking near the Tower. When you enter welcomed by a room with relics and historical explanations you also enter the charm of the history of the Italian Risorgimento and especially of the battles that were fought here, without neglecting the general historical picture of the period. Then you start the climb to the tower through a helical ramp that allows each tour to appreciate paintings and rooms dedicated to specific events rising step by step on the surrounding landscape but also admiring the majesty of the interior paintings whose size deserve a greater distance to appreciate the vastness. Arrived at the summit a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and the nearby Lake Garda, will be 'limited only by the luck you will have in finding a day with the favorable climate to be able to range in the widest possible panorama, the gaze tells the story of those hills that saw historical battles, at the same time so bloody as to lead to reflect on both Peace and the birth of the International Red Cross right here intuited by Henry Dunant Really nice and exciting.

I had a wonderful day full of history. In Solferino San Martino della battaglia (Mantua). Visit to the Ossuary of the fallen in the war. (free admission). Then visit the museum, finally the fortress of Solferino. (paying 5 euros you can visit both). Very informative and well organized.
