    About this experience

West of Iceland has it all. A natural pool, glacier, waterfalls, lava, and volcanoes. Also charming fishing villages and breathtaking views all around the Snæfellsnes peninsula. Few of our possible stops include Snæfellsjökull National Park with Djúpalónssandur, Hellnar, Arnarstapi and Gerduberg. Many of my favorite places are however not famous at all or crowded with people but nevertheless just as breathtaking and special. Our company is a small family based one. We are very passionate about our nature and we love our work. We focus on giving a great memorable experience to few people at the time. We want you to feel like you were visiting an old friend in Iceland that is showing you some of his island's most beautiful places.

    Beautiful hospitality, beautiful sights

A huge thank you to Reykjavik Erupts and our guide Dofiri for taking us through a once-in-a-lifetime journey! Our group was especially appreciative of the patience and humor of Dofiri; we stayed for a while at the Northern Lights because they just kept getting stronger and stronger. I mean, look at that view!

Response from the operator: It sure was a great night for Northern Lights watching. ;)

    Wonderful experience

We had the most amazing time in the 3 days spent with Dofri in west Iceland. He was engaging, thoughtful and personalised. The experience brought us many happy memories and will stay with us for a long time to come! It was no wonder Reykjavik Erupts has all 5* reviews! Highly recommended! 👍🏼

Response from the operator: Thank you, Serene!

A day well-spent with Dofri in the Snæfellsnes Peninsula (despite the rain)

Its hard to add to the 5-star reviews below - they're all true! Fantastic, memorable! The Snæfellsökull volcano was enshrouded in clouds and rain, but we still had a wonderful day seeing what we could of the stark, volcanic landscape and listening to Thomas’ endlessly-fascinating narration. He even threw in details about his own personal history. By the end of our trip, we had what we considered an international friend. We also scheduled an aurora tour with him, that, alas, we abandoned after a few hours of driving around looking, unsuccessfully, for a spot of clear skies. He was nice enough to take us out for another tour on our last night that was successful. (Photos are posted in the next review.) We shall return! PS: Some advice for people booking any tour: Turn off your cell phones, watch the astounding scenery, and listen to the Guide (they're Guides not drivers) telling you about the history, culture, and geology of Iceland.

Response from the operator: Thank you, Richard!

    Outstanding tours and service!

Reykjavik Erupts was absolutely white glove service! The van that was provided was very clean and very spacious. Dofri our guide was very friendly and had a microphone so everyone could hear him explain what we were seeing as well as some wonderful stories and history about Iceland! My parents are a bit slower moving and he was very helpful assisting them when needed as well as keeping track of us all at every stop! Dofri also took us to see the northern lights and was persistent about it-even had us sing as luck to hopefully spot them haha! Luckily on the very last night of our stay we saw them! Dofri went above and beyond helping my bf then, now fiancé with getting the details right for the job proposal! We will be back and definitely will be booking again with Reykjavík Errupts !

Response from the operator: Thank you for your kind words Glendy. It was an honor to be trusted to help with this important moment, and wonderful to spend time with you all. See you soon! Dofri.

Fantastic company to work with to bring the best trip for your group and family.

Reykjavik Erupts and Dofri were amazing for our recent family vacation to Iceland. Our trip to the Snaefellness Peninsula was great in a 10 person Mercedes Van that was incredibly nice. We got to see all of the sights on an amazingly beautiful day. Dofri took is off the beaten path to see his favorite parts of the traditional route and shared with us his personal stories growing up in Iceland. We started the day by feeding his beautiful Icelandic horses which was a highlight for my 5 and 3 year olds. Dofri was fantastic with my kids even looking after them as my wife and I wanted to go on a more challenging hike. Dofri is great to work with customizing the trip to be perfect for you family. Do not hesitate to reach out to him to make the best trip possible for your group. He knows Iceland better than anyone I've ever met and wants to give you a truly unique experience that will last with you a lifetime, and even better, change your life. I consider Dofri part of my family now from our 3 days with him and am looking forward to coming back to Iceland again!

Response from the operator: Thank you! See you again soon, and let's stay in touch about the idea we talked about. ;)

Snaefellsnes Peninsula Private Day Tour - up to 9 passengers: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Snaefellsnes Peninsula Private Day Tour - up to 9 passengers cost?

    +

Prices start at $20500 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Snaefellsnes Peninsula Private Day Tour - up to 9 passengers take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Snaefellsnes Peninsula Private Day Tour - up to 9 passengers worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Snaefellsnes Peninsula Private Day Tour - up to 9 passengers?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Snaefellsnes Peninsula Private Day Tour - up to 9 passengers suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Snaefellsnes Peninsula Private Day Tour - up to 9 passengers?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Snaefellsnes Peninsula Private Day Tour - up to 9 passengers start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
