⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We booked this experience as a birthday surprise while travelling around Australia, and it exceeded our expectations. From the very beginning, the communication was fantastic from Kelly. Our host was incredibly attentive, keeping us updated with messages and even taking photos throughout the evening so we could simply enjoy the experience. It was clear how much thought, time and passion had gone into planning every part of the tour. Seeing her and her husband work together made it feel even more personal and welcoming. The dinner was delicious with plenty of options to cater for different preferences, the Murray River cruise was peaceful and full of fascinating facts thanks to our knowledgeable guide, and the stargazing itself was simply incredible. Seeing the night sky in one of the darkest places in the world was something we’ll never forget… and stargazing from bathtubs definitely wasn’t something we ever expected to have on our bucket list but wow it should be on everyone’s! Everyone we met throughout the evening was so friendly and genuinely passionate about what they do. As visitors from Ireland, it was a real treat to experience such a unique part of South Australia in such a welcoming way. If you’re considering this tour, do it. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience and one we’ll be talking about for years to come! Thank you so much to Kelly ❤️
Response from the operator: Thank you for such a heartfelt review, it really means the world to have international visitors validate our experience offering! So glad the communication and the little touches (the photos especially) let you both just be present in the moment rather than worrying about the details. My husband and I genuinely love doing this together, so it means a lot that it came through as personal. Beautiful to hear the dinner, the Murray River cruise, and the stargazing all landed. A treat to have you amongst the very first in the bathtub trial. Your reaction on the night is exactly the kind of unexpected joy we hope for. Thank you for trusting us with your celebration, and for such kind words. Safe travels for the rest of your Australian adventure. Please send your friends from Ireland to us under the stars! ❤️

Shooting Star!
This was such an amazing experience. The night was perfection and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a unique experience just outside of Adelaide. The knowledge shared by Joe was super insightful and the ambience created by Kelly was the icing on the cake! :)
Response from the operator: Thank you so much, this made our day! So glad the night came together perfectly, and that Joe's knowledge added that extra layer to the experience under the stars. Just outside Adelaide but a world away, isn't it? We'd love to host you again soon.

Stargazing with the perfect trimmings
Stargazing in the Murray International Dark Sky Reserve. Joined the Friday's by the Fire - BBQ dinner and Astronomy Session Have wanted to do this for a while and what better timing to bring my city nephews visiting from Hong Kong for a night out. We joined the Friday's by the Fire - BBQ and Astronomy Session. A limited time event which made it the more exciting. Prior to going, we were given a link of detailed preparation with a video joining instruction which was very professionally done. The road to Ted's was excellent and easy to find. Thinking the BBQ dinner was just a nice itinerary filler - then how wrong was I! The arrangment was gorgeous with the food prepared by a chef ! Lamb with honey sausage, Lamp chops and Pork chops were done to perfection! It was good enough to be a stand alone event! I would choose eating at Ted's over any commercial eateries. Thank you Jade for your gourmet culminary skills! The stargazing was brilliant and breathtaking! Even on a less than clear wintery night. We could appreciate under the massive canvas of stars and milky way. And it was really and utterly pitch dark! The session was conducted by expert commentary by Joe who was thorough, patient and engaging. Seeing stars through his very expensive toy was just awesome! Overall, the efforts that went into the organisation was tremendous and Kelly did it with so much enthusiasms and enjoyment which made us all felt so well treated. Not to mention the hot milo whilst stargazing in the dark was such a beautiful touch of your service. Cant wait to bring my next visitors over
Response from the operator: What a night to have your nephews visiting from Hong Kong for! Thank you for such a generous, detailed review, and for trusting us with a limited-time event. So glad the prep video and directions to Ted's made getting there easy, that's exactly the point of them. Jade is thrilled to hear the BBQ held its own against any restaurant in town! Joe's expertise and patience is the best kind of proof, even when Mother Nature isn't fully cooperating, the Reserve still delivers something unforgettable. Glad the milo was comforting too. Bringing your nephews here to experience it was such a special way to spend time together, and we'd love to host your next visitors too. Thank you for the kind words about the team, we have passed them all on.

A Magical Murray River Sunset and Night Sky Experience
We did the Dark Sky Sunset Tour with dinner and it was such a memorable experience. I’d highly recommend it if you’re looking for something a bit different along the Murray. The afternoon started with crossing the Murray River by ferry, which was a great way to begin. From there, we meandered along the river with really engaging and informative commentary. It didn’t feel rushed at all, just relaxed and easy, with plenty to take in along the way. The sunset cruise was a highlight. It was peaceful and beautifully done, with thoughtful commentary that added to the experience. Being so close to the river made you feel properly connected to the landscape, which was really special. Dinner was a classic Aussie pub meal, simple but enjoyable, and a nice way to break up the evening before heading into the dark sky experience. The dark sky component was fascinating. Once your eyes adjust, it’s incredible how much more you can see. The guide’s commentary about the night sky was engaging and easy to follow, and getting the chance to look through the telescope was genuinely mind-blowing. Overall, this was a magical experience. Relaxed, informative and really well put together. Definitely one I’d recommend to friends.
Response from the operator: Thankyou for taking the time to share this comprehensive review. We have invested so much time and care in creating a wholesome experience for others, and truly, your words are heartwarming. We strive for excellence at all times and it's a blessing to know that you found magic in every aspect of our offering. Of course, Mother Nature is the star we are grateful she put on a splendid display for you!

Why this scores 76
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Small-Group River Murray Dark Sky and Sunset Tour with Dinner: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Adelaide.
How much does Small-Group River Murray Dark Sky and Sunset Tour with Dinner cost?
+
Prices start at $255 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Adelaide usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Small-Group River Murray Dark Sky and Sunset Tour with Dinner take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Adelaide is not rushed.
Is Small-Group River Murray Dark Sky and Sunset Tour with Dinner worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 77 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Adelaide, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Small-Group River Murray Dark Sky and Sunset Tour with Dinner?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Small-Group River Murray Dark Sky and Sunset Tour with Dinner suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 3. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Small-Group River Murray Dark Sky and Sunset Tour with Dinner?
+
Around 27 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Adelaide can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Adelaide and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Small-Group River Murray Dark Sky and Sunset Tour with Dinner start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Adelaide within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Adelaide?
+
On Outty we rank every Adelaide experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Barossa Small Group Tour: Wine tasting, Lunch & Chocolate, Discover Barossa: 4 Wine Tastings, Gourmet Lunch, and Hidden Gems, Adelaide Highlights, Hahndorf & McLaren Vale Wine Tasting and Sightseeing Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Adelaide?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Adelaide?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
