Fantastic Murray River experience
Loved every minute of this cruise. Staff are all so friendly and welcoming. I felt relaxed and spoilt by the never ending delicious food cooked by Greg and brought to us by an ever smiling Julie. Yes the rooms are tiny but most time is spent in the saloon eating, relaxing on deck or exploring when the boat docks so didnt worry me at all. If you want a huge room to lounge about in all day this is not the holiday for you but if you are open to admiring the mighty Murray with a full tummy and great company then I definitely recommend this wonderful experience. Thanks and I am definitely looking at booking something similar for another holiday on the Murray

Excellent Adventure - Lots of different experiences in one day
Ray was a wonderful tour guide and the tour was a lovely set of experiences. We started the day with a short coffee break on Lake Nagambie. On the way we saw wild kangaroos hopping in the fields which was awesome for us Americans. We then traveled to the Kyabram Fauna Park (loved the meerkats even though not native Australian animals). Then on to Echuca with a tasty lunch at the Star Hotel and a hour long paddleboat ride on the SS Canberra along the Murray River. The Rochester Silo art was amazing. And the wine tasting at Sanguine Winery was wonderful. We were the only ones there and got great personal service with great wines to taste. The entire time Ray provided information about Australia and the countryside we were passing. The trip was a great set of individual experiences that added to a full and satisfying day. Highly recommended.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the variety of experiences throughout the day, from spotting kangaroos in the wild and visiting Kyabram Fauna Park to cruising the Murray River aboard the SS Canberra. It’s great to know the Rochester Silo Art and your tasting at Sanguine Winery were highlights as well. Ray will be thrilled to hear your kind words about his guiding and storytelling. We’re so pleased the tour gave you an excellent adventure and memorable day out. Thank you again for travelling with us and for highly recommending the experience. We hope to welcome you back to Australia again someday!

A fun day tour
We enjoyed our day tour visiting the zoo and riding the paddle steamship. The wine tasting at Sanguine vineyard was the icing on the cake! They gave us a yummy lunch of pizza and salads at a local resto. Our tour guide/driver was a young man named Mike. Mike was very gracious and jolly the whole time. He gladly answered all our questions, made us laugh and gave us several insights/ trivia about the place etc. We absolutely enjoyed his company! The van was spacious and clean so it was a relaxing drive to and from Melbourne. We will definitely book with Mike and Local Way Tours again.
Response from the operator: G’day! We are so happy to hear you had fun. Thanks for being on our tour :)

Exhilarating and rich in history Echuca experience
Mike was a delightful and witty tour guide—professional, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the history of the towns we visited along the way and back from Echuca. The well-timed program made for an exhilarating, fun-filled day, with the paddle steamer experience as a standout highlight. Paddling aboard the Emmy Lou felt like stepping back in time while learning about the rich history of the Murray River . I want to give kudos to Local Way Tours for a fantastic value for money tour !
Response from the operator: G’day! We are so happy to hear you had fun. Thanks for being on our tour :)

Good value for money, pleasant guide and interesting trip
Sue was a great guide- friendly bubbly informative and a really good driver. The tour was so interesting and included a visit to a wildlife park, silo art and a winery besides the one hour Murray River paddle steamer cruise. Sue gave us tips along the way at each stop to enhance our experience and fully use the time which we had in each place. We didn’t feel rushed and her commentary helped us to enjoy the whole experience. I thought that the tour was good value, as it lasted 11 hours and included the wildlife Park admission , winery tasting and the cruise. I would go on another trip with this company next time I’m in Melbourne and I really hope that Sue is the guide this time again.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled you enjoyed the full-day tour, from the wildlife park and silo art to the winery and Murray River cruise. Sue will be delighted to hear your kind words. It’s great to know her tips and commentary helped you make the most of each stop. We’d be delighted to welcome you back next time!

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Small-Group Murray River Adventure - Paddle Steamer & Wildlife: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Melbourne.
How much does Small-Group Murray River Adventure - Paddle Steamer & Wildlife cost?
+
Prices start at $190 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Melbourne usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Small-Group Murray River Adventure - Paddle Steamer & Wildlife take?
+
Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Melbourne is not rushed.
Is Small-Group Murray River Adventure - Paddle Steamer & Wildlife worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Melbourne, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Small-Group Murray River Adventure - Paddle Steamer & Wildlife?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Small-Group Murray River Adventure - Paddle Steamer & Wildlife suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 11-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Small-Group Murray River Adventure - Paddle Steamer & Wildlife?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Melbourne can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Melbourne and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Small-Group Murray River Adventure - Paddle Steamer & Wildlife start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Melbourne within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Melbourne?
+
On Outty we rank every Melbourne experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Melbourne: Yarra Valley Wine, Gin, Whisky and Chocolate Tour, Yarra Valley Wine Tour w Exclusive Gin, Cider & Chocolate Tasting, Yarra Valley Wine Tour from Melbourne - Choc, Gin & Good Times. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Melbourne?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Melbourne?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
