Great guide, nice visit to two small producers

We assembled outside the tourist information office outside of Reims railway station. There are quite a few vans. The are all parked very nearby but give yourself an extra minute or two to find your tour. I like these type of tours a lot as they deal with the drinking vs driving issue. We promptly set off to Maitre Geoffroy in a very nice air-conditioned vehicle. I think there were eight people on the tour in total. We got a good introduction into the wine making process from our knowledgeable guide as we walked around the modern press and the cellar in the hillside. They have a few bottles which are useful aids to understand the discouragement process. We had a tasting of three wines afterwards. I thought the Clameur, a blanc de noirs, was particularly interesting and bought a few to take home. The Pulsation (Brut) here is a complete bargain, I would have got a half case if I had more space on my luggage. We then moved onto Alexandre Mea-Devavry. We had a brief look at their traditional circular wooden grape press and then moved onto an enjoyable and relaxed tasting. We hadn't tasted them but I took a punt on two blanc de blancs 2019 to complement my collection. The small producers are often producing wines as good as if not better than the large well-known houses. It's a good opportunity to find what you like and buy wine at half the price of the inflated wines owned by LVMH, Pernod Ricard and the like. I booked direct.

    Enjoyable afternoon

We were picked up from near the train station which was easy to find. Just 4 of us on the tour. Our guide Ana was very friendly and informative. She was very knowledgable and was able to answer all out questions, we visited 2 different makers and saw how it was made and stored and tried 3 different champagnes in each place The host in the first maker was very friendly and informative. It was a very enjoyable afternoon. Only negative is it was a little pricey.

    Excellent tour of smaller...

Excellent tour of smaller champagne houses, with a stop ot the church where Dominus Pérignon is buried - the priest, merchant, experimentor of champagne as we know it today. Very knowledgeable guide, lovely group, a great time. Please set up a tour of Krug!

    Tour of Smaller Champagne Producers

Xavier was great and very knowledgeable. I suspect we learned a lot more touring two smaller producers than we would have if we toured some of the larger houses. Highly recommended.

    Sparkling! A real must do.

What great way to learn more about Champagne, the place & surrounds, as well as the making of the drink itself. Well worth visiting family growers to get a perspective from that side compared to the big famous houses. Our driver’s knowledge of it all was detailed & very impressive. Delivered with good humour, as well as patience for our many questions - some of which were definitely a bit left field! Highly recommended.

    +

Prices start at $142 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reims usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 88 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 376 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Reims, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

    +

Around 132 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reims and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Reims?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reims experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group - Full Day Champagne Tour 3 Small Champagne Growers, Reims afternoon tour Champagne and family growers, Reims or Epernay: Full day Champagne Mumm, family grower & lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reims?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reims?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
