Great tour! Monika is the best!

(Monday, August 10) I don't mean to make this a review of Monika instead of the tour itself, but since she was such an integral part of the tour it's hard not to! The tour itself was great. Yeah, everyone does the Golden Circle. But this was the first time my wife and kids have been to Iceland, so we had to do it. I was in Iceland 24 years ago and did the tour on one of the big buses. So what a thrill it was to have the small bus experience - and have Monika as our guide! Monika is funny, engaging, plays great music, and truly looks out for what is best for her passengers. Monika paid attention to the crowds and the time of day and kind of tailored things based on where we were with the itinerary. She even added in some surprises. For example, we got to stop and pet some horses that belonged to a friend of hers. Monika went out of her way at one point to help a passenger who got separated from the group and went to the wrong pickup location. She accommodated another passenger who wanted to grab a t-shirt. And she did it all without affecting the rest of our day. We had adequate time at each stop and she told us what to expect and how best to navigate things. At our final stop at the Sky Lagoon, Monika escorted us all inside to make sure we were taken care of. My youngest son had some concerns about the changing room and shower situation. I wasn’t fully understanding what the attendant was saying about the showers (her English was perfect, I’m just slow understanding *laugh*) and Monika stepped in like a hero to help “translate” and explain things and put us at ease. She absolutely wanted to make sure we were okay. Whatever Monika is being paid - it's not enough!

Very *Nice* tour around the Golden Circle

Our guide, Gulli, was outstanding. He combined deep historical knowledge and local insights with a great sense of humor and highly professional, safe driving. Notably, he came to the rescue during an emergency at Gullfoss and helped secure medical assistance for an injured tourist from another group. The itinerary is fast-paced and involves a significant amount of walking and climbing stairs. There are several lookouts and most can find their comfort level. The time management at Gullfoss was excellent, allowing us to fully experience both the upper and lower viewpoints (the lower viewpoint is highly recommended if time is short). However, the 35 minute allocation at Kerið Crater only allowed enough time to walk either the top or bottom perimeter, not both. While the 20-passenger minibus offered a desirable small-group atmosphere, the final row was filled and uncomfortably cramped. Tour operators should reconsider maximum capacity bookings for back-row seating. Overall, this was an excellent experience that our multi-generational family group thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you Gulli!

The golden circle with some extra’s

Excellent tour under the expert guidance of our driver Gulli. Took us everywhere and explained a lot about the history, geology and even an extra to a historic church

    Great Tour!

Our guide was Gulli and we had a wonderful time. He made sure we were at the correct bus before getting on, and he shared history with us over a microphone as he drove. The sights were beautiful. A great way to see some of Iceland if you don’t want to drive yourself.

    Fun, see top sights

Gulli was our guide and was amazing. Saw the big ticket items with a fun stop at a church / crypt when another stop was unavailable. Pickup is super easy (you just be at the bus stop when they tell you). Bring a rain jacket / poncho

Small-Group Golden Circle, Sky Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Small-Group Golden Circle, Sky Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater cost?

    +

Prices start at $219 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Small-Group Golden Circle, Sky Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Small-Group Golden Circle, Sky Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 89 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 693 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Small-Group Golden Circle, Sky Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Small-Group Golden Circle, Sky Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Small-Group Golden Circle, Sky Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater?

    +

Around 243 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Small-Group Golden Circle, Sky Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
