A lot of walking on...
A lot of walking on unstable surfaces but the guide provided plenty of opportunities to be in the shade, extremely hot. Guide super knowledgeable and kept it interesting.
Response from the operator: "Your guide seems to have balanced the uneven ground and intense heat with well-timed shade stops while keeping the history engaging. We appreciate you recognizing both the care and knowledge that went into your visit. Best regards, Sky Crown Tours"

Laura (not Croft) was AWESOME!
Laura (not Croft as she would say) was AWESOME! She is very knowledgeable and took time to explain everything and answer any questions anyone had. She was also very pleasant, funny, and courteous. I highly recommend her!
Response from the operator: Vickie, “Laura, not Croft” already tells us there was plenty of personality in this tour! We’re so happy that Laura made your time at the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill both informative and genuinely enjoyable. Her willingness to slow down, explain the details, and make space for everyone’s questions clearly helped the group connect with the history rather than simply move through the sites. Just as importantly, it sounds like her humor, warmth, and courtesy made the experience feel relaxed and personal from beginning to end. That combination of expertise and character is exactly what makes a small-group tour memorable. Thank you for recommending Laura so enthusiastically. We’ll make sure she sees your wonderful feedback. Wonderful tour!
We had a wonderful tour and tour guide. Tons of stories and interesting facts, even our 19 year old son was engaged!
Response from the operator: Pam, thank you for such a wonderful review! We especially love hearing that the stories and fascinating details kept your 19-year-old son engaged — that’s a great compliment to your guide’s ability to make Ancient Rome feel vivid and relevant for every generation. We’re so pleased the small-group experience gave your family an enjoyable way to discover the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill together. Best regards, Sky Crown Tours

It can be very hot in...
It can be very hot in Rome this time of year so be prepared. Make sure you keep hydrated. It can be very hot in summer. But besides that i enjoyed our tour at coleseum immensely. Our guiide was very enformed about subject matter. Her name is Isabel.
Response from the operator: Carol, thank you for sharing your experience and for the helpful summer advice for future visitors. Rome’s heat can certainly make exploring the Colosseum and surrounding archaeological areas more demanding, so staying hydrated and prepared is very important. We’re especially pleased that, despite the temperatures, you enjoyed the tour so much and that Isabel’s knowledge helped make the history of the Colosseum even more interesting. We’ll be very happy to pass your kind words on to her. Best regards, Sky Crown Tours

Hydrate and Go For It!
Be sure to bring water (it's permitted) or buy a water bottle at the outset of the tour during high heat. There are scant chances after that. Be ready to walk, but it's well-paced and really informative. The guide is really knowledgeable.
Response from the operator: Thank you for the helpful advice! We’re glad the tour was well paced and informative, and that your guide’s knowledge made the experience worthwhile despite the heat. Best regards, Sky Crown Tours

Why this scores 87
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Small Group Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.
How much does Small Group Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $5 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Small Group Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.
Is Small Group Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 87 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 1,698 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Small Group Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 72 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Small Group Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Small Group Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill Tour?
+
Around 594 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Small Group Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rome?
+
Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rome?
+
April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rome?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
