What you'll see and do
Amsterdam Canal Ring
All cruises are captained by myself as the captain/owner of the Drift Away. We depart from the Singel no.7 and we will return to this location at the end of the cruise. I do not offer a fixed route, depending on your wishes as guests I will tailor the cruise to you specifically. Due to the custom design of the Drift Away we have access to even the narrowest canals of Amsterdam and are able to pass even the lowest of bridges. If you do not have any preferences I will put together a route which will give you an overview of the canal belt, a few of the small less travelled canals, the Amstel river and the eastern maritime area. As a born and raised ¨Amsterdammer¨ I have a wealth of knowledge about Amsterdams history, culture and the Dutch way of life in general. I love sharing with you about my hometown in an easy going manner, with a good sense of humor and the typical Dutch straight forwardness!

Amazing Evening Cruise
It was our first trip to Amsterdam and Captain John ended up providing us with an amazing tour that we’ll always remember! We did the 9pm tour and it was really incredible seeing everything lit up at night! John was very fun to chat with, as well as very knowledgeable in providing insight along our tour! They also had a great alcohol selection. We’d definitely recommend, and hope to take again sometime!

Great time
Captain John was great! The tour was perfect and a great way to see the beauty of Amsterdam to start our vacation. He was informative and funny. We all had a great time!

Fun, informative small group tour.
Great canal tour with skipper Fokko in a beautiful boat. We sat outside at the front of the boat but there is room under cover inside if the weather is no good. Slightly more expensive than other tours but well worth it to have such a friendly, humorous and informative guide, as well as drinks included. We learnt a lot about the city and canal system and had a lot of fun. Good to have a small group rather than one of the huge boat tours. This was much more personal. We changed our booking time and number of people a couple of times and they were very responsive to my emails. Highly recommend.

Would highly recommend
Fabulous boat ride through the canals. Jan was fabulous. He provided the kind of intimate details and extra interesting facts you don’t get from a commercial group. It was nice to have the extra 30 minutes above the other tours because it allowed for a slower pace and a more intimate setting. Would highly recommend!

Why this scores 83
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Small Group Boutique All-Inclusive Tour (max 12 p) With Captain: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amsterdam.
How much does Small Group Boutique All-Inclusive Tour (max 12 p) With Captain cost?
+
Prices start at $59 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amsterdam usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Small Group Boutique All-Inclusive Tour (max 12 p) With Captain take?
+
Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amsterdam is not rushed.
Is Small Group Boutique All-Inclusive Tour (max 12 p) With Captain worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 83 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 614 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Amsterdam, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Small Group Boutique All-Inclusive Tour (max 12 p) With Captain?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Small Group Boutique All-Inclusive Tour (max 12 p) With Captain suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Small Group Boutique All-Inclusive Tour (max 12 p) With Captain?
+
Around 215 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amsterdam can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Small Group Boutique All-Inclusive Tour (max 12 p) With Captain start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amsterdam within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?
+
On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Amsterdam?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
