1 Star – Very Poor Communication and Disorganised Tour
We booked this ATV buggy tour for 11:30am, as that was the earliest time we could be ready. On the day of the tour, while walking back to our room, I suddenly started receiving WhatsApp messages and missed video calls from two different numbers telling us that transport was waiting and that we needed to “go right now.” This was extremely confusing because our booking clearly stated 11:30am. We had no time to collect our belongings, and I didn’t even have time to take my travel sickness medication. When I replied that we were on our way, I received messages such as “Come on, we’re way behind schedule,” “We have more clients to serve,” and “Send me a picture of the door already.” The tone throughout was rude and made us feel as though we had done something wrong, despite following the time on our booking confirmation. When I sent a screenshot showing our confirmed 11:30 booking, they claimed the pickup was actually 10:30am and said the transport manager had supposedly contacted us the previous day. I received no messages whatsoever until around 10:35am that morning and sent screenshots proving this. Eventually they admitted they would report the issue internally. By the time we got outside, there was no transport waiting anyway. We were then told the truck was “on its way.” The whole experience was stressful before the tour had even begun. Because we had been rushed so unexpectedly, I hadn’t taken my travel sickness medication. I explained this to the staff and had to ask to sit in the front of the vehicle because I knew I would feel sick. Unfortunately, the poor organisation continued throughout the excursion. At the buggy base there were so many groups and guides that nobody knew where they were supposed to be. At the coffee, cocoa and chocolate stop, we bought two bottles of chocolate, two hair serums and one cream after being told the total would be $100. Instead, we were charged $121, and we never even received one of the bottles we paid for. At the same stop, a vendor persuaded us to buy three fridge magnets, saying it would help support his family. When we got to the counter, he tried to charge us $80 for three magnets, which was ridiculous. While dealing with this, our tour guide and group left without telling us. We had to run back to the buggies to catch up. The same thing happened again at Macao Beach. We had around 20 minutes there, but once again our group left without anyone checking whether everyone was back. Communication from the guides was almost non-existent. The ATV ride itself was enjoyable, but it was completely overshadowed by the poor organisation, rude customer service, lack of communication, and questionable sales practices. We paid £20 per person, but I would strongly recommend spending a little more and booking with a better-organised company. It would make for a far more enjoyable and far less stressful experience.
Response from the operator: Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your experience. We sincerely apologize for the frustration and inconvenience you encountered. First and foremost, we are very sorry for the confusion regarding your pickup time. We understand how stressful it must have been to receive urgent messages that did not match the time shown on your booking confirmation. This is not the experience we want any of our guests to have, and we are already reviewing what happened with our transportation team to ensure this does not happen again. We also apologize for the tone of the messages you received. Courtesy and professionalism are values we take very seriously, and we regret that our communication did not reflect those standards. Regarding the organization during the tour, your comments about the lack of coordination, the short communication from the guides, and the group leaving without checking that everyone was present are very concerning. We will share your feedback with our operations team so these issues can be addressed immediately. We are equally sorry to hear about your experience during the shopping stops. What you described regarding the incorrect charge and the missing product is unacceptable. We will investigate this matter with the vendors involved to better understand what happened and prevent similar situations in the future. Although we're pleased to know that you enjoyed the ATV ride itself, we regret that the overall experience did not meet your expectations due to the issues you encountered. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us, and we genuinely appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention. We are committed to improving our communication, organization, and overall service so that every guest has the enjoyable experience they deserve. Thank you again for your honesty, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a much better experience in the future. Warm regards, Juana Tropical Thrills Team 🌴

Why this scores 76
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Small Group ATV and Buggy Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Punta Cana.
How much does Small Group ATV and Buggy Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $28 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Punta Cana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Small Group ATV and Buggy Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Punta Cana is not rushed.
Is Small Group ATV and Buggy Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 64 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Punta Cana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Small Group ATV and Buggy Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Small Group ATV and Buggy Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Small Group ATV and Buggy Tour?
+
Around 22 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Punta Cana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Punta Cana and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Small Group ATV and Buggy Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Punta Cana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Punta Cana?
+
On Outty we rank every Punta Cana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Punta Cana Zipline - 8 lines and a suspenseful hanging bridge, Punta Cana Buggy or ATV Tour with Macao Beach, Cave and Tastings, Buggy Excursion to Macau Beach and Natural Cave. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Punta Cana?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Punta Cana?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
