    Disappointed

They booked our tour time wrong, therefore, they didn’t have the right tour guide that spoke English. They buddied us to tour in Spanish and told us if they find the English guide we can follow. They ended up finding the guide while inside the building, but it was too late and she was already done on her part. So, even though we did get to go inside and looked around on our own we didn’t get to hear the history of what we were looking at. They did offer to join another English group later on that day but we had other plans made. We were pretty upset about everything since we did pay enough money, and we didn’t get a refund at the office. We will not book with them in the future.

Find another company - this one RUINS your planned excursion.

Even with AI, you wouldn't be able to create the rudeness, complete lack of professionalism, attention to detail & sheer incompetence of the staff in Piazza San Zaccaria. I bought the ticket for the whole tour of the Basilica (the most expensive option) which included the visit to the Pala d'Oro, the Museum & the Terrace. The clue that things were not going to go well was when one of the staff started handing out tickets at the meeting point. When you initially book, you're asked to select a time. I chose 10.15am but the ticket handed to me clearly had 11am printed on it. When I tried to clarify the time with her, she walked away. Once inside, all visitors follow clearly cordoned zones that allow you to access the "extras" if you've paid for them. The moment I showed my ticket to access the Pala d'Oro, I was denied entry. Fortunately, two of the Basilica guards asked to see the original voucher. It clearly showed that I had indeed paid for the extras. They accompanied me to the Exit, told me to get The Tour Shop to reprint the correct ticket & then return without having to stand in line again. On returning to the meeting point, I explained to the staff what had happened but instead of printing the correct ticket, they told me that they couldn't do anything & I could simply buy another tour inside & they would give me a "partial refund". The young lady at the Front Desk added it wasn't their fault & I could try booking another day. No consideration was given if you were a visitor that had crossed the Atlantic, taken a train from Rome to get to Venice & made this booking for the Basilica 4 months in advance. If I could give this company Zero Stars, I would. Their incompetence & fundamental refusal to even try & rectify a problem of their own making should make potential travelers wary of booking ANY tour with them. Find another way/company to visit the attractions in Venice. This one takes your money, gets it completely wrong & leaves you without seeing one of Venice's marvels, despite planning 4 months ahead.

    Waste of money

They changed our time and put us with a Spanish group and there was nowhere on the instructions that said you had to cover up so we had purchase scarves. We had to download an audio guide which was rubbish a complete waste of money. We also had trouble finding meeting point

Skip the Line St. Mark's Basilica Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Venice.

How much does Skip the Line St. Mark's Basilica Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Venice usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Skip the Line St. Mark's Basilica Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 0.8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Venice is not rushed.

Is Skip the Line St. Mark's Basilica Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 43 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Venice, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Skip the Line St. Mark's Basilica Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Skip the Line St. Mark's Basilica Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0.8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Skip the Line St. Mark's Basilica Tour?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Venice can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Venice and add a light layer if any part of the 0.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Skip the Line St. Mark's Basilica Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Venice within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Venice?

    +

On Outty we rank every Venice experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Pasta and Tiramisu Cooking Class with Wine in Venice, Eating Venice Small Group Food & Drinks Tour, Venice Bacaro Food Tour: Eat and Drink like a Venetian. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Venice?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Venice?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
