Our Time in Chania — Truly Unforgettable!
This tour was one of the best experiences of my trip to Crete and an absolute must-do when visiting Chania. From start to finish, everything was thoughtfully planned and perfectly paced. Our guide, Maria, was incredible — warm, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about sharing the history, culture, and traditions of the region. She made everyone feel welcome and added so many personal touches that made the day feel special rather than just another tour. The olive oil factory visit was fascinating. I learned so much about how authentic olive oil is made, from harvest to pressing, and the tastings were delicious. It really gave me a new appreciation for high-quality olive oil and the care that goes into producing it. The wine tasting portion was equally wonderful. The setting was beautiful, the wines were excellent, and the atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. One of the most memorable personal touches was when we were surprised with freshly made kalitsounia — traditional Cretan pastries — with our names written on them! That small but thoughtful detail made me feel so welcomed and made the experience feel truly unique and personal. If you’re visiting Chania and want to experience authentic local culture, amazing food and wine, and genuine hospitality, this tour is an absolute must. Thank you, Maria, for making the day so special — I will be talking about this experience for years to come!

A wonderful, fascinating and attentive tour. Maria was a next-level host who absolutely made our day!
Absolutely superb tour, Maria is such a passionate and engaging host that her excitement is genuinely infectious! The whole group loved her and it honestly felt like a day out with an old friend - she was informative and attentive, and made sure each one of us enjoyed the day. We experienced some wonderful stops, my favourites being the honey tasting, olive oil mill and also the hidden church in the caves. She even managed to call in a favour and get a local winery to open for us for a couple of hours as an additional stop! 10/10 would absolutely recommend to anyone who wants to feel like they're experiencing Crete through the eyes and heart of a genuine and personable local.

Personalised tour with amazing Guide Maria
Maria made our Crete visit so special. She is an amazing woman, a great tour guide and such a lovely person. We started off in the morning with a very warm welcome with lovely treats, she have us amazing background information about the island and was very knowledged innrhe history and whatever question we had. The visited sites were well chosen for our group and we could even visit spontaneously change our plans as she has an amazing network on the island and made our personal preferences possible. I can only highly recommend to book a tour with her. Also very important to know: She is very aware of wheelchair accessible needs so I will definitely recommend this to my friends with a wheeled family member!

An Unforgettable Day in Crete!
We had an incredible experience on this tour with Maria as our guide! The stops were perfectly curated, blending Crete’s rich history with its local flavors. Starting at the brewery was a fun surprise, and the olive oil and wine tasting at the mill was absolutely divine. The highlight for us was visiting the monastery and its little museum, followed by a moment on the balcony with stunning views of the valley below—it felt like stepping back in time. There wasn’t a formal lunch stop, but the snacks and tastings along the way were more than enough to keep us satisfied. We truly appreciated Maria’s warmth and care. This is a must-do for anyone looking for an authentic experience of Crete!

Sips of Crete: Flavors, Legends & Hidden Gems: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chania.
How much does Sips of Crete: Flavors, Legends & Hidden Gems cost?
+
Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chania usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Sips of Crete: Flavors, Legends & Hidden Gems take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chania is not rushed.
Is Sips of Crete: Flavors, Legends & Hidden Gems worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Chania, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Sips of Crete: Flavors, Legends & Hidden Gems?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Sips of Crete: Flavors, Legends & Hidden Gems suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 3. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Sips of Crete: Flavors, Legends & Hidden Gems?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chania can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chania and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Sips of Crete: Flavors, Legends & Hidden Gems start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chania within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Chania?
+
On Outty we rank every Chania experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half-Day Rethymno Quad Safari, Elafonisi & Falasarna Small Group Tour from Chania w/snacks, Balos & Falassarna Beach - Jeep Tour with Loungers and Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Chania?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Chania?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
