    About this experience

Snorkeling in a wetsuit in Iceland is something that may sound crazy but it can be one of the most rewarding things you can ever do. Hearing what our guides know and what our customers say after the tour is the reason we offer the wetsuit to you. We are the only company that offer a wetsuit and a drysuit. This allows multiple people in your group to decide what is truly the right fit for them to tailor make your day. Most people who choose the wetsuit do so because they want to be able to dive down. Therefore because of this this option is popular with scuba divers who do not have the required certifications for the drysuit scuba dive. When underwater a serene silence washes over you that can only be experienced by being under the water in a wetsuit. It is something that makes this quite possibly the best way to view the waters of Silfra, consistently over 100 metre in visibility. If you're not a particularly confident swimmer then the drysuit snorkel is an easier option for you.

    I had the most amazing...

I had the most amazing experience diving in Silfra, Iceland! 🤍❄️✨ A huge thank you to Kaya for making this experience even more special. She was so sweet, kind, and lovely, and she stayed with me throughout the whole trip, explaining everything and making sure I felt comfortable and safe. The views were absolutely breathtaking and something I will never forget! It was truly a unique and unforgettable experience, and I would highly recommend it to everyone. Thank you so much, Kaya, for such a beautiful and memorable experience! 🤍✨

    Go!

This was AH-MAZING!! The water was so clear you could see the sunlight dancing on the floor of the bay. The algae in spots stood straight up like stalagmites. I would 100% recommend this activity. Kaya, our guide, was excellent and held tremendous knowledge of Icelandic lore.

Great experience with Doris as a guide!

Choosing an early slot seems much better to avoid waiting before entering Silfra. Interesting expérience

Don't be afraid of the cold

I'm 63 and was nervous about the cold. I did not use dry suit, just wet suit. No problem at all. Stunning experience.

    Be adventurous, try the wetsuit!

My travel group and I all did the wetsuit diving. We've done the drysuit diving in the past, and after comparing the two I absolutely prefer the wetsuit diving. Yes, you are wet throughout rather than staying dry underneath the suit, however the water does not feel as cold as you would think and your body acclimates pretty quickly. In both the wetsuit and drysuit, your hands, feet, and face go numb regardless, so we much prefer the freedom and flexibility of the wetsuit over the drysuit. When you are in the drysuit, you have to have your wrists and neck tightly bound with ties to ensure no water gets into your suit, so between the constriction around your neck and the bulkiness of the drysuit it can feel a lot more claustrophobic for some people (me included). If you are in the fence, be adventurous and try the wetsuit! You will feel more bada** haha As for our specific experience, Kaya was a wonderful guide! She was informative, knowledgeable, passionate, and very experienced. She was thorough with our prep and set up, and made us feel safe and accounted for the entire time. We would absolutely recommend her for this adventure!

Silfra Wetsuit Snorkeling - Meet on Location | Free Photos: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Silfra Wetsuit Snorkeling - Meet on Location | Free Photos cost?

    +

Prices start at $139 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Silfra Wetsuit Snorkeling - Meet on Location | Free Photos take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Silfra Wetsuit Snorkeling - Meet on Location | Free Photos worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 85 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 387 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Silfra Wetsuit Snorkeling - Meet on Location | Free Photos?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Silfra Wetsuit Snorkeling - Meet on Location | Free Photos suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Silfra Wetsuit Snorkeling - Meet on Location | Free Photos?

    +

Around 135 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Silfra Wetsuit Snorkeling - Meet on Location | Free Photos start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
