Dambulla Cave Temple
Dambulla is part of the Cultural Triangle of Sri Lanka. Five caves made of living rock and decorated with sculptures and murals are the most significant heritage. Pre-Brahmi inscriptions dating back to the third century BC, and murals from the eighteenth centuries, show human activity over a long time. This site was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1991. The Dambulla Project, Central Cultural Fund, was responsible for mural conservation from 1982 to 1998. The Dambulla Project, which is the only research center for murals and headquarters for mural conservation, also maintains Sri Lanka's only mural museum. This Project is also responsible for mural conservation in the surrounding temples. It is located at Dambulla Cave Temple. Sigiriya Lion Rock
Sigiriya or Sinhagiri is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. It is a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock approximately 180 metres (590 ft) high. According to the ancient Sri Lankan chronicle the Cūḷavaṃsa, this area was a large forest, then after storms and landslides it became a hill and was selected by King Kashyapa (477 – 495 AD) for his new capital. He built his palace on top of this rock and decorated its sides with colorful frescoes. On a small plateau about halfway up the side of this rock he built a gateway in the form of an enormous lion. The name of this place is derived from this structure; Sīnhāgiri, the Lion Rock (an etymology similar to Sinhapura, the Sanskrit name of Singapore, the Lion City) Please take note: We should spend about 6hrs Transport time for Kalutara to Sigiriya & Comeback to your hotel in Kalutara

How long does Sigiriya Rock and Dambulla Cave Temple Day Trip from Kalutara take?

+

That score blends traveler sentiment (0/5 across 0 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kalutara, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Sigiriya Rock and Dambulla Cave Temple Day Trip from Kalutara?
+

How far in advance should I book Sigiriya Rock and Dambulla Cave Temple Day Trip from Kalutara?
+
Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kalutara and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+

What are the best things to do in Kalutara?
+
On Outty we rank every Kalutara experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Most Recommended Round Tour in Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Car Rental with Driver per Day | Car Van or MiniBus Rental with Driver, Galle day tour - Colombo to Galle trip - All Included. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kalutara?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kalutara?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
