About this experience
Via ferrate represent a major attraction for climbers and hikers in Europe and around the world. There are only a handful in the US and we designed and constructed a unique one just outside Zion National Park. Shorty Town is particularly special because it's located in a remote area and we limit the number of visitors so it's rare to see others outside your trip group. If you already have some experience climbing via ferrata, don’t hesitate to book this trip. If this is your first time, don't count yourself out. We love introducing via ferrata to first-timers! Our professionally accredited guides have been trained by certified educators to facilitate your technical introduction. Unlike rock climbing, there is little technical skill needed to climb a via ferrata. This is a one-of-a-kind experience on the only known modern Italian-style via ferrata in the United States. Come enjoy the views of Oak Creek Canyon and Eye of the Needle's™ waterfall - something most will never see.

Incredible. Add Eye of the Needle too.
Really cool experience. Great guides. Amazing scenery. If we would have understood the options we would have done the 'eye of the needle' canyoneering in combo with the Via. This way you would get a really neat experience rappelling into the bottom of the canyon but you would still get most of the Via Ferrata experience on the way back up the canyon.
Response from the operator: Thank you for the fantastic review! We're so glad you enjoyed the Shorty Town™ Via Ferrata and that our guides and the incredible scenery made it such a memorable experience. We also appreciate you sharing your insight about the Eye of the Needle combination. You're absolutely right—pairing the Eye of the Needle canyoneering route with the Via Ferrata offers a unique adventure. Guests get the thrill of rappelling into the canyon, followed by climbing back out on the Via Ferrata, making for an unforgettable day that combines two incredible experiences into one. Thank you for pointing this out for future adventurers, and we'll continue looking for ways to better communicate all of the options available so guests can choose the experience that's the best fit for them. We hope to see you again the next time you're in Zion!

Shorty Town™ Via Ferrata near Zion National Park: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Virgin River.
How much does Shorty Town™ Via Ferrata near Zion National Park cost?
+
Prices start at $249 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Virgin River usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Shorty Town™ Via Ferrata near Zion National Park take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Virgin River is not rushed.
Is Shorty Town™ Via Ferrata near Zion National Park worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Virgin River, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Shorty Town™ Via Ferrata near Zion National Park?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Shorty Town™ Via Ferrata near Zion National Park suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Shorty Town™ Via Ferrata near Zion National Park?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Virgin River can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Virgin River and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Shorty Town™ Via Ferrata near Zion National Park start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Virgin River within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Virgin River?
+
On Outty we rank every Virgin River experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Half-Day Canyoneering near Zion, Zion National Park/Kolob Terrace Private 1/2 Day Sightseeing Tour, Stargazing in Zion National Park's International Dark Sky. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Virgin River?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Virgin River?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
