2. Shirakawa-go is a beautiful UNESCO World Heritage village famous for its traditional Gassho-zukuri farmhouses, whose steep thatched roofs resemble hands joined in prayer. Surrounded by mountains and rivers, this historic village offers stunning scenery in every season and gives visitors a glimpse into Japan’s rural lifestyle from centuries ago. Admission to the village is free, allowing visitors to freely walk around and enjoy the unique cultural landscape at their own pace.
