Arrive at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium in the early afternoon to check in and learn the time slot for your dive. You’ll then receive a one-hour briefing, which is mandatory for all divers. During the briefing, you’ll meet your guide, go over safety and dive procedures, and learn about the sharks and other animals in the aquarium. Your group is limited to four divers, ensuring personal attention from your guide the entire time. All training will be provided at the SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium on the day of your dive, with no previous experience necessary. Depending on your schedule, you're welcome to explore the aquarium before or after the mandatory briefing. Visit the Conservation Cove to learn about local marine life; head to Seahorse Pier for the largest exhibit of seahorses and seadragons in the world; and spy on a Pinjarra — one of Australia’s largest saltwater crocodiles — at the Croc Lair. Once it's time to dive, you’ll meet your guide, get your equipment on, and get into the water! Colorful fish dart past you in the 2 million-liter Oceanarium as you swim near the tank's bigger residents including nurse sharks, sevengill sharks, giant stingrays, and sea turtles. Your guide will make sure that you stay safe throughout your half-hour experience. Basic SCUBA training is provided so that you can delve into the underwater habitat, with no experience necessary. Strongly avoid this one.
Strongly recommend you do not go. This was an absolute joke. Booked and followed there instructions, link for directions. Ended up at a park on other side of town. This was the link on there sight. When we did arive we were late and it was a too bad attitude and no refunds despite it being their issue. Called trip advisor and got same attitude.

Amazing experience at SeaLife Aquarium Melbourne
We had an amazing experience doing the SeaLife Shark Dive at Melbourne aquarium. Having no diving experience before, the instructors did an amazing job, teaching a few simple skills that made the whole process easy and rewarding. Huge shoutout to Mark, Lachie and Linda for making the whole experience so fun, and Plugga the turtle for getting up close and personal.

A Great Experience
The instructors were awesome. Even in a controlled environment they were absolutely professional and were up front about expectations. I had a great time. A huge thankyou to Bec for talking me down when I was having a panic moment having never scuba dived before. Jim and the other young fella who’s name I don't remember (I apologise) we’re awesome too. Would definitely do it again.

Amazing, fun, worth every dollar.
I got this experience as present for my birthday from family members. I found the small group (4 people maximum) to be a perfect size, the instructors were all excellent and very knowledgeable. I had never dived before and struggled a bit at first with the concept of breathing underwater, the instructors (Kate especially) took the time to talk me through it step by step, control my nerves and move ahead with the dive. Once fully in the tank it was an amazing, fun experience and worth every dollar.

Disappointed by Viator.
I booked a shark dive for my husbands 60th. This event date had to be changed with varification via email from Viator. My husbands booking date was NOT tranfered and when we arrived they were booked out missing his name. It was EXTREMELY disappointing, embarrassing and frustrating as I bought tickets for family members to watch. I would never book with Viator again.

Why this scores 40
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Shark Dive Experience at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Melbourne.
How much does Shark Dive Experience at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium cost?
+
Prices start at $263 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Melbourne usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Shark Dive Experience at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Melbourne is not rushed.
Is Shark Dive Experience at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 40 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 24 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable family friendly in Melbourne, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Shark Dive Experience at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Shark Dive Experience at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Shark Dive Experience at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Melbourne can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Melbourne and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Shark Dive Experience at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Melbourne within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Melbourne?
+
On Outty we rank every Melbourne experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Melbourne: Yarra Valley Wine, Gin, Whisky and Chocolate Tour, Yarra Valley Wine Tour w Exclusive Gin, Cider & Chocolate Tasting, Yarra Valley Wine Tour from Melbourne - Choc, Gin & Good Times. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Melbourne?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Melbourne?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
