What you'll see and do
Kilim Geoforest Park
Travel by boat through the twists and turns of the Kilim river through the maze created by aerial roots and thick fleshy leaves of the mangrove trees. We often see mangrove animals that make their home in this delicately balanced ecosystem which is responsible for the health and wide variety of species in the Andaman Sea. We also explore how the mangrove area is a perfect environment for cottage industries such as fish farms. Our first stop is The boatman will stop the engine and throw some chicken pieces out into the water to invite the eagles. And in no time you will see eagles diving down just next to you and clawing up the chicken pieces and eating them as they soar into the sky. As we venture out of the mangroves you will see majestic limestone rock formations and sea stacks that rise dramatically from the ocean. This ancient coral thrust into the sky millions of years ago is home to a unique and ancient group of plants found no where else on earth.

Some good bits and some I would have missed
A mixed bag of a trip... Firstly the driver arrived late and we hadn't heard he would be so we were getting worried we had missed him. Once he arrived he didn't refer to being late - and then we were further delayed by the next people to be collected... however we didn't want this to impact our day. When we arrived at the park - its very well organised chaos! There are so many people getting into so many boats but it is very well organised and we were very quickly on our boat. There is a toilet at the main site but bring some small notes as you need to pay. They were clean but just somewhat wet! You can also buy bread which you can feed the fish with if you would like to. The boat had life jackets which you must wear and we had a good safety briefing, then we were off to our first stop - fish feeding. If you choose not to buy the bread you still see the fish... Then we went to the floating restaurant for a toilet stop - these toilets are even more interesting but its all part of embracing the day! You can buy some additional drinks here for a few Ringgit. Next to watching the eagles which was really good. Our guide Nash gave us lots of information and we spent time just watching them and taking photos. We went to gorilla rock - this very loosely looks like a gorilla and you sail past. Still the limestone rock and mangrove are impressive. Monkey river was good - you are warned before arriving to ensure plastic bags and water bottles are away - bring a (non plastic) bag to put this in! The monkeys can be bold and climb in the boat but are curious and not aggressive at all. There are loads of them along the river. Crocodile cave was fun to drive though - it (sort of) has a rock which looks like a crocodile face hence the name. There are no actual crocodiles. The bat cave was great - you pay 2 Ringgits per adult - get the torch for a Ringgit as mobile phone torches dont have a strong enough beam. The bats are very cool and its fun in the cave. Monkeys here too so dont bring your water bottle! We visited the Andaman sea - you can see Thailand in the distance and then to a beach where people got off the boat and swam in the water. We stayed on board and the boat Captain took us further along to see the coastline which was good. Back to the floating restaurant for lunch - which was surprisingly good. Comes with an orange squash which was thirsty quenching. I didnt like the fish farm which is there - pick a fish for your lunch... many of the fish were distressed and swimming around frantically. But, our standards of ethical treatment are different in the UK. All in all it was a well organised trip but I had been hoping to learn more about the mangrove and its importance. The eagle watching was really good and worth the trip just for that.
Response from the operator: Can see your happy photo.. suggested to you to take private boat next time ...I'm sure you will be comfortable

Mangroves and Geo Park
The Geo Park experience was excellent, our guide Shah and our boat man were very knowledgable and we thoroughly enjoyed the day. The Eagles were amazing, and it was great to fly along in the boat. The only thing that let it down was the transfer to the Park. On the way we were 4 people in a small car and it was very cramped, on the way back it was a better experience so I think they responded to feedback. I would highly recommend visiting the Geo Park.
Response from the operator: Thank you

A Great day out, spoilt by an aggressive driver tasked with returning us to the start point.
A great day out, the guide was helpful we saw many interesting things. Lunch was good, a buffet. It was marred by transportation problems. On the way back particularly there were too many people put on our minibus. I am disabled, and was manhandled off the bus by an aggressive driver.
Response from the operator: Thank you but i would suggest you take the private boat next time

Ideal Shore Excursion!
We thoroughly enjoyed our day. The drive to the start of the boat ride and back (from the cruise port in the South to the North shore) was great. Abu, our driver provided so much information on Langkawi, the people and the island. The boat ride was so beautiful and relaxing and the absolute best way to see the island. We saw so many eagles, monkeys, the fish farm, and just beautiful mangroves and ocean. Upon our returning to the port, Abu offered to take us to other places we might like to see on our way back to the port. We stopped to see the Eagle (amazing). He drove around the city, !once again sharing more information. The day was a full land and boat tour of a wonderful island. Thanks to our great guide, Abu!

Use this Company at your peril.
Shearings Coach Tour: W8XRCK (21 to 28 Dec. 2025) Xmas on the Italian & French Riviera - over the Xmas week Would strongly advise not to use Shearings (not to be confused with Leger). Many things to advise on (most of the other passengers have similar/longer lists) and have forwarded their grievances: Negative items: ▪️VV.expensive for VV. poor service. ▪️Coach unfit for purpose, cramped seating too many seats (result: knee and back pain on long trips) ▪️Aircon did not function correctly (hot at coach front 24.5C / v. cold at rear) ▪️Coach hygiene questionable (at least 3 people contracted conjunctivitis - myself included) ▪️8-day holiday comprised 4 x 14 hr travel days and not enough comfort stops - particularly unsuitable for more elderly passengers or those with mobility issues ▪️No free water on coach, poor/lack of information from couriers during 4-day coach travel ▪️Optional trips also unsuitable for clients with mobility issues as too many stairs/steps ▪️Male courier/driver unprofessional in manners/dress and attitude (rude jokes) also shared room with his mother on trip ? ▪️Coach not cleaned for duration of holiday (unlike Ledger coach couriers who vacuumed their coach during our short final run home in UK) ▪️Don't even have time to start about the hotel 😎😎 - days with no hot water and food very basic Positive items: Eventually got home. Regards, Martin

Why this scores 74
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Sharing Half Day Kilim Geoforest Park Mangrove Boat Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Langkawi.
How much does Sharing Half Day Kilim Geoforest Park Mangrove Boat Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $43 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Langkawi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Sharing Half Day Kilim Geoforest Park Mangrove Boat Tour take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Langkawi is not rushed.
Is Sharing Half Day Kilim Geoforest Park Mangrove Boat Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 89 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Langkawi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Sharing Half Day Kilim Geoforest Park Mangrove Boat Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Sharing Half Day Kilim Geoforest Park Mangrove Boat Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Sharing Half Day Kilim Geoforest Park Mangrove Boat Tour?
+
Around 31 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Langkawi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Langkawi and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Sharing Half Day Kilim Geoforest Park Mangrove Boat Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Langkawi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Langkawi?
+
On Outty we rank every Langkawi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include JungleWalla Langkawi UNESCO Geopark Mangrove Cruise, 6 Hours Sharing Basis Kilim Mangrove Safari Boat Tour in Langkawi, 6 Hours Kilim Mangrove Kayaking Sharing Tour (Wt Lunch & Pickup). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Langkawi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Langkawi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
