Disappointing
Let's start with the positives. Both of the vans we used from Rio to Illha Grande were comfortable and the driving was safe. We booked a shared transfer and our driver picked us up on time. It then took 3 hours around Rio and Ipanema before we even set off. We appreciate that a shared service needs multiple stops but at one point the driver circled the same block 5 times without picking up a passenger. For a 9am pick up we didn't get to illha grande until nearly 4pm. The return trip was similar. The boat left on time at 10am and we didn't arrive back at our hotel until Be warned, if you book this service then expect to be plagued by delays and spend the majority of your day travelling. Very disappointing experience 😔

Reckless drivers!
Good and clear communication via WhatsApp. The driver on the way from Rio to Angro de Reis pushed our bags in with the back doors, a wonder they held. Then he drove very recklessly, far too fast and almost fell asleep several times, we heard that he began to snore easily. On the way from Ilha Grande to Barra Da Tijuca the transfer was 1h late and yet the driver stopped after about 30 minutes drive at a gas station for a stop in 20 minutes. This driver also drove very recklessly, far too fast and sat and buttoned with his mobile phone most of the time. When we arrived at our hotel he jumped out of the car without telling us where we were and did not talk to us at all. Overall judgment is that they are lousy, nonchalant, dangerous drivers!

Organized and efficient. I used the transfer and also some tours, and everything went very well. No complaints. I recommend.

They don't warn anything, tardy.
Since 12 o'clock waiting. It's 17 in the afternoon. They said it could take until 15. They don't send a message with an approximate time, they ruin your day because you wait when you could have gone to the beach to wait. If you're not in the hotel, luck standing with your bags. They ruined our day in ilha grande and in rio too. If you're too tight, hang out with someone else even if you pay more. The hotel day in iñha I hope they will return it to us

Messed up my booking which made me miss my connection, did not offer any compensation for their mess up.
They messed up my booking, added me to transfer that would miss the ferry. There was no chance to make the connection. I ended up traveling the whole day (taking evening ferry). They did not apologize or offer any compensation instead kept blaming me until I eventually proved that it's their mistake. I highly recommend arranging the regular bus and ferry yourself - in such way you're in control of the connection, it's much cheaper and more comfortable (my van did not even have an aircon working).
Response from the operator: Prezado Cliente Pedimos imensas desculpas pelo ocorrido e solicitamos que por favor faça contato com nossa área de Pós Vendas no número +55 21 97721-7763

Why this scores 42
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Shared transfer from Rio de Janeiro x Angra dos Reis: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rio de Janeiro.
How much does Shared transfer from Rio de Janeiro x Angra dos Reis cost?
+
Prices start at $129 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rio de Janeiro usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Shared transfer from Rio de Janeiro x Angra dos Reis take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rio de Janeiro is not rushed.
Is Shared transfer from Rio de Janeiro x Angra dos Reis worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 42 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.2/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rio de Janeiro, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Shared transfer from Rio de Janeiro x Angra dos Reis?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Shared transfer from Rio de Janeiro x Angra dos Reis suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Shared transfer from Rio de Janeiro x Angra dos Reis?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rio de Janeiro can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rio de Janeiro and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Shared transfer from Rio de Janeiro x Angra dos Reis start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rio de Janeiro within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rio de Janeiro?
+
On Outty we rank every Rio de Janeiro experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rio's Full Day: Selarón Steps, Christ & Sugarloaf – Tickets & Lunch Included, Rio: Tijuca Rainforest Hike, Wildlife, Waterfalls & Caves, Explore the Best of Tijuca Forest – Hike to Peaks, Caves & Falls. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rio de Janeiro?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rio de Janeiro?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
