Excellent transfer service

Perfect transfer from a very professional and prompt staff. Always felt safe and well taken care of, even offered us water. Very nice lady who was driving us to the airport.

Would not recommend Shared "Volcano Travel Costa Rica's airport shuttle" to Anyone! Private Shuttle only!

Our experience with "Volcano Travel Costa Rica's airport shuttle" was extremely disappointing, stressful and exhausting. The journey took about 4 1/2 hours instead of the expected 3, nearly causing us to miss our flight. We were under constant stress and anxiety throughout the ride, fearing we wouldn’t arrive on time. The driver didn’t speak any English, and for the entire 4 1/2 hours, there was awkward silence, which made the experience even more uncomfortable and, frankly, miserable. WiFi might not seem crucial, but without it, we couldn’t use our translator app, check our distance from the airport, or look up any information, making communication impossible. We had to switch cars twice, with two different transfers, which was unexpected and a bit unsettling since we had no idea what was happening or why the changes were occurring. The process was chaotic and confusing, especially with all our luggage. The two transfers were particularly challenging because none of the drivers spoke English. While I understand we were in another country, given the number of transfers and the fact that it was a tourist shuttle, I expected at least some basic English explanations. If it had just been a few quick stops, it wouldn’t have been such a problem. But with multiple stops, long waits, and the need to transfer both us and our luggage, it became very stressful, unsettling, and chaotic. Fortunately, two girls at the last stop spoke both English and Spanish. They explained that some passengers were going to the beach and would be transferring to another van and that the airport was 20 minutes away. Without their help, we wouldn’t have known what to do or where to go. The entire process was disorganized, stressful, and left us feeling anxious about reaching the airport on time. That stop lasted over 30 minutes, and with our International flight leaving in two hours, we were still 20 minutes away from the airport still waiting on the other shuttle to arrive which was even more frustrating. I realize that being in a foreign country with a different language can present challenges, but we didn’t expect multiple transfers, long waits, and so much confusion. We anticipated perhaps one or two stops for pick-up or drop-off, not extended delays that kept us on edge the entire time, winding down country roads that seemed to be way off course to the airport, which only made us more unsettled. At one point, I felt like we were in the plot of "Green Inferno," and I even started sending photos to my friend back home—pictures of the van, mile markers, my location and the surrounding scenery—because I genuinely started to fear we weren’t going to make it back home. Our private car experience was absolutely fantastic and worth every extra penny—trust me! If you have the option, definitely choose the private service over this shared shuttle. It was only $100 more, but they were pleasant, spoke English, made fun stops along the way and we weren't stressed for even a second. Overall, this experience with "Volcano Travel" was frustrating, chaotic, and stressful. Based on how it went, I would never use this service again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. It’s simply not worth the hassle when better options are available. Sadly, this ending to our otherwise wonderful vacation left us feeling so stressed and disappointed, as the "Volcano Travel" shuttle experience was just so stressful, unenjoyable and overwhelming.

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
