Journey to Marghuzor, the initial lake, located at an altitude of 1,640 m. Its name means "eyelashes" in Tajik. The lake is celebrated for its vivid colors. Afterward, you will head to Soya Lake. Its name translates to "shadow" because this lake is situated between towering cliffs, keeping it in shade for most of the day. The third lake, Gushor, is located just 400 meters from Soya. These two lakes are linked by a flowing stream. Named "watchful," this lake is encircled by steep cliffs. The fourth lake, known as Nofin, is the main lake, which translates to "umbilical cord" owing to its length of 2.5 km. The fifth lake, which lies 1.5 km from Nofin and passes through the picturesque village of Pardut, is Khurdak lake, meaning "the baby," as it is the smallest of the seven. The sixth lake, Marguzor, is the largest and, for many, the most stunning of the Seven Lakes.

Now, we drive (Optional trek from Sixth Lake) to Hazorchashma – the seventh and highest of the Seven Lakes is situated approximately 2,400 meters above sea level. The term Hazorchashma (or Azorchashma) translates to “a thousand springs,” as the lake is nourished by two rivers along with numerous streams and springs. Hazorchashma is the final lake in the Shing River gorge. The distance is 2.5 km one way, with an elevation gain of 340 m.

Fantastic Tour
This was a fantastic and memorable tour, and one of the highlights of our trip to the region. Our guide Usman was wonderful from start to finish. Every detail was organized and well taken care of, including navigating a complex border crossing without any stress on our part. What really made the day special was Usman's genuine love for the area. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he gave us great context and stories about the lakes, the villages, and the surrounding mountains that we wouldn't have picked up on our own. The Seven Lakes themselves are incredibly pristine and beautiful, each with its own distinct color and character. It's a truly unique experience and an absolute must-visit if you're anywhere near Samarkand.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful words! It was truly a pleasure sharing the beauty of the Seven Lakes with you. I’m very happy you enjoyed the journey, stories, and scenery. Your kind words and recommendation mean a lot to me! 🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏

Deep rural mountain excursion into untouched rural Tajikistan
Amin is a legend. This was not your cookie cutter tourist activity, this was more like a brief cultural immersion into Tajikistan. We had an excellent time. You get to see the bazaar in the city, which has a very different feel than Samarkand. You get to see village life in Tajikistan. You get to see OUT OF THIS WORLD beauty up in the mountains. It was peaceful up there at the 7th lake. Snow capped mountains in the distance and lush green valleys down below. Amin made us feel safe and comfortable. I cannot recommend this unique experience highly enough.
Response from the operator: Fletcher thank you so so much for your amazing words. I am really trilled you both are amazing persosn hope to you again 👏👏👏🫂🫂🫂

Why this scores 81
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Seven Lakes: Fully Inclusive Door-to-Door Guided Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Samarkand.
How much does Seven Lakes: Fully Inclusive Door-to-Door Guided Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Samarkand usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Seven Lakes: Fully Inclusive Door-to-Door Guided Tour take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Samarkand is not rushed.
Is Seven Lakes: Fully Inclusive Door-to-Door Guided Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 35 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Samarkand, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Seven Lakes: Fully Inclusive Door-to-Door Guided Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Seven Lakes: Fully Inclusive Door-to-Door Guided Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Seven Lakes: Fully Inclusive Door-to-Door Guided Tour?
+
Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Samarkand can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Samarkand and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Seven Lakes: Fully Inclusive Door-to-Door Guided Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Samarkand within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Samarkand?
+
On Outty we rank every Samarkand experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include A City Tour Of Samarkand: The Pearl Of The East, Private Samarkand City Tour with Transport: Inside Attractions, Seven Lakes Day Tour from Samarkand (Private & Group Options). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Samarkand?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Samarkand?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
