    First time in Bali

This was a great excursion for us since this was our first time in Bali. We had such a wonderful guide and driver, Kadek. He was very friendly and gave us lots of information about the places we drove thru and about Balinese culture. He took great pictures of all our experiences. I would highly recommend this excursion for anyone visiting Bali. Gates of heaven was good but be prepared to wait for photos. Amazing views though. Tirta Gangga was so beautiful. Don't forget to visit the museum there also. We loved this excursion and can't thank our wonderful guide Kadek enough for helping us create so many memories of our time in Bali.

Disappointing Experience – Staff Lacking Professionalism

Review: Sadly, the staff at this Motta location seem completely uninterested in their work. Instead of focusing on service, they were loudly chatting about their personal lives, ignoring guests and creating an unprofessional atmosphere. I had to ask someone to clean a table, and even then, there was no urgency or care shown. It's disheartening to see such poor service under a historic Italian brand like Motta. Truly disappointing and not a good look for Italy or this airport.

Response from the operator: Dear Daldov Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. However, we would like to clarify that your review appears to have been mistakenly posted under our tour product “See The Gate of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple in Bali.” Based on your feedback, it seems your comments are related to a Motta location, possibly at an airport, and not associated with our guided tour services in Bali. We take guest satisfaction very seriously and always strive to provide a professional and memorable tour experience. If you have any concerns or experiences regarding our Bali tour, we would be more than happy to assist. Kindly consider updating your review to the correct listing so the appropriate team can address your feedback.

Not the spiritual and clam experience expected

Wife and I arrived at Temple around noon and told by staff that there was 3 hour wait in high temperature and humidity. I had my own camera but on arrival at temple found two sets of terraced seating crowded with people. They were waiting for a staff member seated in a plastic chair in front of 'gate' to take their photos and had plastic bucket at his feet where people were placing payments for this. Took my own photos of gate and moved on. Sadly area was full in 'influencers' who were getting photo for their profile and not living in the moment. Temple was closed during our visit; we were told there was ceremony but Balinese government clamping down on tourists accessing temples as I found when visiting other sites. Disappointing experience.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Lempuyang Temple is indeed one of the most iconic and highly visited sites in Bali, and waiting times—especially during midday—can be quite long due to high demand. We usually recommend visiting early in the morning to avoid crowds, heat, and long queues. Regarding the photo system, the staff at the “Gate of Heaven” manage the queue and photography process to ensure fairness for all visitors. The small contribution is part of the local system and supports the temple and community. We also understand your concern about the atmosphere. Bali has become a very popular destination, and while many guests come for photos, the temple itself remains an important spiritual place. Ceremonies and temporary closures are part of Balinese culture, and unfortunately, these are beyond our control but are essential to preserve local traditions. We truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us better inform future guests and set the right expectations. If you visit Bali again, we would be happy to recommend alternative experiences that are more peaceful and less crowded.

See The Gate of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple in Bali: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ubud.

How much does See The Gate of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple in Bali cost?

    +

Prices start at $69 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ubud usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does See The Gate of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple in Bali take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ubud is not rushed.

Is See The Gate of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple in Bali worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 32 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ubud, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule See The Gate of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple in Bali?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is See The Gate of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple in Bali suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book See The Gate of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple in Bali?

    +

Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ubud can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ubud and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does See The Gate of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple in Bali start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ubud within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Ubud?

    +

On Outty we rank every Ubud experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mount Batur Jeep Adventure, Best of Ubud Full-Day Tour with Jungle Swing, Full-Day Tour to Water Temples and UNESCO Rice Terraces in Bali. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ubud?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ubud?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
