The West Sedona Canyon Tour area is about 8 miles west of Sedona. Make your own way to the departure point and from there, you will be taken to the trailhead in a 15-passenger van. The 3-hour tour begins when you arrive at the trailhead. This is the outback of the West Sedona Valley, where over 40 movies have been filmed over the years. There is over a hundred miles of trails to choose from, which provides your guide with the opportunity to customize each tour based on the age, interests and skill levels of the group. You’ll be awestruck by a view of the Verde Valley from the top of Skeleton Bone Mountain, over 800 feet above the valley floor. And don’t be surprised if some antelope run alongside you as you drive along the valley floor! For your safety and comfort, wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, and bring your sunglasses. Also, bring your camera; the views are spectacular!

Fun Way to See a Lot of the Sights
Tom and the crew did an excellent job of showing us the beautiful sights and providing useful and interesting information. Each stop included photo ops, history, a bit of natural science, humor, and enough time to take it all in. They were focused on safety and took us across miles of the park and over different terrain. The ATV was easy and fun to ride. We were riding double on the ATV. We're glad we did the tour and would do it again next time!

Not a 4hr tour and barely an adventure
Its 11:18am and we just got back to our AirBnB from our 4hr guided ATV tour that was scheduled 8am-12pm. Here's how the day went. We arrived at 7:35am which gave us time to sign in and get our gear all set. At 8:05 our group of about 10 went through the training/test drive. At almost 9am we drove to the OHV staging site, which was 6 miles away. At 9:20am we were finally on our way to the day's dventure...excited and ready to have fun. We ended up splitting the group into 5 & 3, likely due to riders experience level. 2 riders ended up dropping out of the tour before we left the main loaction. Anyway, our guide, Tom was chill and relaxed and so were the other guides/assistances. The reason for my rating? The time spent on the actual guided ATV tour. After stopping 4 times on the way to our destination, I was genuinely surprised when our guide said, "Okay folks let's start heading back." I looked at my watch and it was 10:35am!! It felt like we spend more time prepping to go and stopping to check on people and photos, than the actual adventure. The ride back resulted in we stopped 3 times, and made it back to the OHV staging site at 11:05am. I know it may be hard to gauge people's adventure meter but come on, this was not it, and at over $200 a person and the service is sold as a 4hr adventure covering 30 miles. It wasn't 4hrs and it wasn't 30 miles, and it was barely an adventure. I can't image if the owner experienced the guided tour my husband and I had today they would feel this tour is up to par with what they advertise and charge. Hopefully they read this and take it as constructive criticism to modify their "adventure" to what's advertised because I don't mind paying what they charge, as long as it's worth it.

Just so much FUN!
Thank you, Jordan for the funnest afternoon exploring the backcountry of western Sedona! My first time on an ATV and I felt like I was in great hands. We got our gear and had a brief training session and we were on our way. Jordan was a great guide making sure we had ample stops for water breaks and photos. He’s also very knowledgeable about the ecology of the area and we learned a lot while having a great time and getting up close and personal with these gorgeous red rock formations. Thanks so much, Jordan!

Sedona’s ONLY Guided ATV Tour: Western Red Rock Backcountry: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sedona.
How much does Sedona’s ONLY Guided ATV Tour: Western Red Rock Backcountry cost?
+
Prices start at $230 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sedona usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Sedona’s ONLY Guided ATV Tour: Western Red Rock Backcountry take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sedona is not rushed.
Is Sedona’s ONLY Guided ATV Tour: Western Red Rock Backcountry worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 88 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 1,874 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Sedona, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Sedona’s ONLY Guided ATV Tour: Western Red Rock Backcountry?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Sedona’s ONLY Guided ATV Tour: Western Red Rock Backcountry suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Sedona’s ONLY Guided ATV Tour: Western Red Rock Backcountry?
+
Around 656 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sedona can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sedona and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Sedona’s ONLY Guided ATV Tour: Western Red Rock Backcountry start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sedona within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Sedona?
+
Sedona's activity market is dominated by off-road jeep tours, and the difference between operators comes down to which trails they are permitted to run. Beyond that: vortex and energy walks, hot air balloon lifts at dawn, stargazing sessions in one of the darkest skies in the country, and Grand Canyon day runs north. We rank on permit access and group size. On Outty we rank every Sedona experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small-Group Grand Canyon Complete Tour from Sedona or Flagstaff, Kayak Tour on the Verde River, Schnebly Hill Jeep Tour: Rugged Rim Views & Historic 4x4 Road. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Sedona?
+
March to May and September to November. Summer afternoons bring monsoon storms. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Sedona?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
