    What you'll see and do

    1. Schonbrunn Palace

While our tour admires only the magnificent exterior, this was the Habsburgs’ summer residence where grand ceremony and everyday court life unfolded side by side. Behind the golden-yellow façade, salons, galleries, and mirrored halls once staged music, diplomacy, and family dramas. Today it welcomes visitors into a living story of imperial Vienna.

10 minutes here · Admission not included

    2. Schonbrunner Gardens

A formal Baroque park that channels nature into elegant lines, vistas, and surprises. Marble figures, clipped hedges, and flower beds lead you toward fountains and a hilltop view. Even in quiet moments, the garden feels like a story unfolding in chapters.

      10 minutes here

    3. Neptune Fountain - Schonbrunn

A theatrical water scene where the sea’s ruler commands a rocky grotto. Tritons and nymphs gather around a shell chariot as water slips into a broad pool. It’s the garden’s grand exclamation mark at the end of the main axis.

      10 minutes here

    4. Roman Ruin

A romantic scene of broken arches and half-toppled columns set beside a tranquil pool. It looks ancient at first glance, but it’s a playful creation meant to invite daydreams. Nature has joined the performance with moss, birds, and drifting leaves.

      10 minutes here

    5. Schonbrunn Obelisk Fountain

A stone needle rises from a grotto, borne on the backs of solemn turtles and crowned by an imperial bird. Water slips from masks and jars to thread the scene together. The result is playful symbolism wrapped in cool shade.

      10 minutes here

    6. Small Gloriette

A petite, octagonal hideaway tucked among the trees on the eastern slope. Its windows and balcony promise a quieter view of the park. It feels like a secret kept by the woodland itself.

      10 minutes here

    7. Gloriette Schloss - Schonbrunn

An airy arcade that crowns the hill and frames the best view in the park. Its arches read like music against the sky and its terrace gathers the city into a single sweep. From here, the palace and gardens become a map of light.

      10 minutes here

    8. Palmenhaus Schoenbrunn

A soaring greenhouse where palm fronds brush a sea of glass and iron. Step inside and the air turns warm, green, and gently humid. It’s a winter refuge and a summer dream alike.

      10 minutes here

    9. Tiergarten Schoenbrunn - Zoo Vienna

The world’s oldest zoo set within an imperial park, where history and conservation meet. Charming historic buildings frame modern habitats for animals from around the globe. It’s a day of discovery wrapped in Viennese character.

    Beautiful company

The lyrics are entertaining and interesting, the handling needs to be practiced a bit. Tip: Map to 2. Open mobile phone, as unfortunately not interactive. Another tip: fast-forwarding does not refer to the individual text, but so you get to the next post.

Very interesting visit thanks to the audio guide. Even if we did not manage to validate the link the platform intervened very quickly and we could benefit from the service. Perfect.

Great audio guide, but tickets extra

The audio guide was excellent and made our walk around the Schönbrunn grounds really enjoyable with great historical facts. Just a heads up that the ticket to actually go inside the palace is not included! Still, a very good experience overall.

Schönbrunn - Audio Guide and Self Guided Tour (No Palace Ticket): questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Vienna.

How much does Schönbrunn - Audio Guide and Self Guided Tour (No Palace Ticket) cost?

    +

Prices start at $7 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Vienna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Schönbrunn - Audio Guide and Self Guided Tour (No Palace Ticket) take?

    +

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Vienna is not rushed.

Is Schönbrunn - Audio Guide and Self Guided Tour (No Palace Ticket) worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Vienna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Schönbrunn - Audio Guide and Self Guided Tour (No Palace Ticket)?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Schönbrunn - Audio Guide and Self Guided Tour (No Palace Ticket) suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Schönbrunn - Audio Guide and Self Guided Tour (No Palace Ticket)?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Vienna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Vienna and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Schönbrunn - Audio Guide and Self Guided Tour (No Palace Ticket) start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Vienna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Vienna?

    +

On Outty we rank every Vienna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Authentic Vienna Food Tour inc. lunch, street food, 3 drinks, Vienna Food Tour: Coffeehouses, Markets, Lunch & Street Food, Budapest Small-Group Day Trip from Vienna. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Vienna?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Vienna?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
