    About this experience

Explore the majestic La Plata Mountains and Canyon near Durango, CO at some of the canyon’s most scenic and beautiful waterfalls. This is a mild scenic tour fun for the entire family who does not want to do the full four hour tour. We will stop at 3 unique waterfalls for plenty of photo opportunities, as we climb higher into the canyon. Our last waterfall stop is on private property accessible only to Durango Rivertrippers. This stop gets you up close to a stunning 25-30ft waterfall with some old mining structures scattered around the base. We reach around 10,000 feet above sea level and stop to take in the views. This is a great adventure for the entire family. All ages are welcome on this trip however car seats are not provided. NOTE: This tour does not go up to the top of Kennebec Pass and is a mild tour.

One of the best Jeep tours we've done.

We've done a lot of Jeep tours in Sedona, Arches, Canyonlands, etc., and this is one of the best. It's much more than a Waterfall Tour. It's informational - geology, history, nature, and more, and the scenery is breathtaking. Our guide was Jerry and he was the best. He drove safely and carefully, kept us entertained with corny jokes, and went out of his way to accommodate everyone on the tour. He took pictures of each of us at every stop. The check-in process was simple. No one on our tour had any issues.

It was fun, but due to...

It was fun, but due to current conditions very dusty! We did not let that spoil it but don't wear white or nice clothes.

Response from the operator: Karen, we're glad you enjoyed the tour. We do advertise this experience as dirty, dusty, bumpy, and bouncy, which is part of the adventure of exploring backcountry roads by Jeep. We hope you'll consider rating us on the aspects we can control, such as our guides, service, vehicles, and overall experience.

    Chasing waterfalls

Our guide, Russ, was excellent, very knowledgeable about the area. We enjoyed the adventure very much. The ride to the location is windy, and be prepared to get dusty!

Scenic Waterfall Jeep Tour~ 2.5 hours: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Durango.

How much does Scenic Waterfall Jeep Tour~ 2.5 hours cost?

    +

Prices start at $99 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Durango usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Scenic Waterfall Jeep Tour~ 2.5 hours take?

    +

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Durango is not rushed.

Is Scenic Waterfall Jeep Tour~ 2.5 hours worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Durango, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Scenic Waterfall Jeep Tour~ 2.5 hours?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Scenic Waterfall Jeep Tour~ 2.5 hours suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Scenic Waterfall Jeep Tour~ 2.5 hours?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Durango can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Durango and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Scenic Waterfall Jeep Tour~ 2.5 hours start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Durango within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Durango?

    +

Durango runs the Durango and Silverton narrow gauge steam railroad, Mesa Verde cliff dwelling tours, Animas River rafting, jeep trails and winter skiing at Purgatory. On Outty we rank every Durango experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Durango Colorado - Rafting 1/4 Day, Durango Half Day Rafting Trip - Lower Animas River, Durango 1/4 Day Rafting Trip - Lower Animas River. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Durango?

    +

May to October, with the railroad running year-round in shorter form. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Durango?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
