This trip is a relaxing hour and a half cruise through the back protected bay waters then on the way home you get a front row seat for the sunset as the boat cruises along the beautiful gulf beaches showing you the beautiful beach hotels during the golden hour on your right with a gorgeous sunset to your left. During the sunset cruise we turn the music up a little louder and enjoy the festivities while captain announces information about the wildlife and surrounding areas. We don’t guarantee dolphins on the sunset cruise but we do see them often and if you drink enough free beer and wine who knows what you might see!

    What you'll see and do

    1. John's Pass Village & Boardwalk

The "Pass", as locals refer to it, was created by a hurricane on September 27, 1848. A pirate, John Levique, made the first passage through the newly created pass. Hence the name, Johns Pass. Over one hundred merchants with unique retail shopping, a variety of restaurants and local tour operators.

    2. Designated as an aquatic preserve in 1968, Boca Ciega Bay was protected to prevent the extensive dredging and filling activities that occurred in the 1950s. This designation helps preserve its diverse habitats, including mangrove islands, seagrass beds, oyster bars, and coral communities.

    Terrible

Be there promptly at 6:30 if your boat is at seven because they will cancel you. They were supposed to refund the money and they never did. It’s been a month now and I’ve not received anything from them.

    Great Experience

The Bar tender and driver were great! Great music and we met some new friends! The sunset view was perfect! Great Father’s Day weekend in the ocean

    Lousy music and lousy wine!

I took the cruise because iOt said it would have wine, which it did, but the wine was disgusting. The music was not cohesive to the people on board. Zach, who was in charge of the bar was very rude pointed me out during the cruise saying yeah Irene if you had tipped you could’ve had your music, but I didn’t tip him any money because I didn’t know you have to give people money to give you good music or give you good wine. I’d already paid $50 for this cruise so I guess that was just for the boat ride in the beautiful sunset. The female captain was awesome. She was great but the bartender looks like all he wanted was tips! Anybody can pour wine and not everybody has a personality and you guys your wine is worse than mad dog 2020.

Always a must do for our visitors!

We live in St. Petersburg and whenever we have friends or family visiting, we ALWAYS take them on the Sunset Cruise! Totally worth the price, whether or not you are a drinker! A special thanks to them this time around.. I accidentally booked 6 of us on the wrong date, and they graciously accommodated us when we arrived on the wrong date. We will continue bringing our visitors on this cruise.. everyone loves Zack and Brandi and the cruise!

Response from the operator: Thank you for the amazing review, Robin, and for making Hubbard’s Marina sunset cruises part of your go-to recommendation for visitors to St. Petersburg. That truly means a lot to us. We’re so glad to hear the experience continues to deliver every time, whether it’s the relaxing ride, the views on the Gulf, or the fun atmosphere on board. It’s also great to know our team was able to accommodate your booking mix-up—that’s exactly the kind of flexibility and guest care we strive for. Our sunset cruises out of Madeira Beach and John’s Pass are designed to be enjoyable for everyone, and we love hearing that your friends and family consistently have a great time. We truly appreciate your continued support and look forward to welcoming you and your future guests back again and again for another unforgettable sunset cruise with Hubbard’s Marina!

    Highly recommend this tour

We had a wonderful sunset and dolphin cruise. Captain Rik made it his mission to show us as many dolphins as possible and at the same time giving them space to show off and glide through the waters. Very comfortable atmosphere and taking song requests from the guests. Although the clouds had an alternate plan, we will have to go back on our next visit to catch the full sunset experience.

Response from the operator: Thank you, Jamie, for sharing your experience from your sunset and dolphin cruises with Hubbard’s Marina! We’re so glad you had a wonderful time out on the water and enjoyed the relaxing, comfortable atmosphere on the Gulf. Seeing dolphins up close is always a highlight, and it’s great to hear the trip balanced great sightings while still respecting the wildlife. Even when the sunset doesn’t fully cooperate, the experience on the water, music, and time spent cruising from Madeira Beach and John’s Pass still make for a memorable outing. We truly appreciate the recommendation and look forward to welcoming you back again on your next visit, hopefully with a perfect sunset to go along with another great dolphin cruise!

Scenic Sunset Cruise from Historic Johns Pass, Free Beer and Wine: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for St Petersburg.

How much does Scenic Sunset Cruise from Historic Johns Pass, Free Beer and Wine cost?

    +

Prices start at $39 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in St Petersburg usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Scenic Sunset Cruise from Historic Johns Pass, Free Beer and Wine take?

    +

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in St Petersburg is not rushed.

Is Scenic Sunset Cruise from Historic Johns Pass, Free Beer and Wine worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 41 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in St Petersburg, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Scenic Sunset Cruise from Historic Johns Pass, Free Beer and Wine?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Scenic Sunset Cruise from Historic Johns Pass, Free Beer and Wine suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Scenic Sunset Cruise from Historic Johns Pass, Free Beer and Wine?

    +

Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in St Petersburg can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in St Petersburg and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Scenic Sunset Cruise from Historic Johns Pass, Free Beer and Wine start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central St Petersburg within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in St Petersburg?

    +

St Petersburg pairs beach time with a dense arts district: Dali Museum entry, mural walking tours, clear-kayak paddles through mangrove tunnels and boat runs out to Egmont Key and Shell Key. On Outty we rank every St Petersburg experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include St. Petersburg Jungle Prada Site History Tour, Small Group Kayak Tour of the Shell Key Preserve, Clear Kayak Tour of Shell Key Preserve and Tampa Bay Area. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit St Petersburg?

    +

October to April, before the summer heat and afternoon storms. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in St Petersburg?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
