    Relaxing and comfortable train ride.

This is a 4 hour trip from Da Nang to Hue either way but it didn't feel that long. Very relaxing. Great chairs with plenty of leg space. Scenery is amazing up through the mountains along the coast. Staff at stations very helpful but leaving luggage in Da Nang overnight cost 400,000VD. Toilets on board. Souvenirs, drinks and food for sale. Free live music in refreshments carriage.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! 😊 We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the relaxing journey, comfortable seats, and beautiful coastal and mountain scenery. It’s great to know that our staff were helpful along the way as well. We truly appreciate you sharing your experience and hope to welcome you on board again for another enjoyable journey between Da Nang and Hue! 🌿🚆✨

Enjoyable and convenient but not a must

This was a comfortable way to get from De Nang to Hua but tbh we expected more spectacular views (maybe this is relative); thought that there would be an opportunity to stop for photos - there was one rather random stop at a station and were a bit disappointed by the community carriage. We thought that entertainment would be provided throughout - and there was some of the way but when we went back towards the end of the journey there were two rather bored looking women just on their phones and not singing or playing music.

Response from the operator: Dear Sir/Ma'am, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are pleased to know that you found the journey from Da Nang to Hue comfortable. However, we are truly sorry to hear that the overall experience did not fully meet your expectations. We sincerely apologize that the scenery and experience were not as spectacular as you had hoped, as well as for the lack of photo opportunities during the journey. We also understand your disappointment regarding the community carriage and the entertainment experience, especially during the return journey. Your feedback is very valuable to us, and we will share it with the relevant team to help improve the overall experience for future guests. Thank you again for your honest feedback. We truly appreciate your support and hope to have another opportunity to provide you with a more enjoyable experience in the future. Best regards, VM Travel Team

    Very slow but scenic

This train is very slow but so very scenic. We really enjoyed the views and the glimpses into the way of life of country Vietnamese people. Very cheap trip as well… $10aud from Hue to Da Nang. 😳

    Great, except for seating options

Beautiful scenery. However, one side of the train is substantially better than the other. When we booked, that was not mentioned and there was no way to select seats. Unfortunately, we were seated on the inferior side.

    Absolutly Negative Experience

I booked two tickets for the Heritage Hai Van Pass train well in advance to make sure we got window seats. Despite reserving a month early, the intermediary assigned us two seats far from the window and even separated from each other. We ended up paying almost twice the official price without receiving any additional service. The intermediary later justified this by saying that other passengers had booked up to two months earlier, but the result is that—even with our early reservation—we were given the worst seats available (including seats blocked by pillars). A disappointing experience: I strongly advise against using this service. Buying the tickets on your own is definitely more convenient and reliable.

Response from the operator: Hi, thank you very much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback with us. We’re truly sorry that the seating arrangement did not meet your expectations, especially as you booked well in advance hoping to enjoy the window seats. 🙏 We completely understand your disappointment. During peak periods, the Heritage Hai Van Pass train can become fully booked very early, and seat availability is unfortunately controlled by the railway system. While we always try our best to secure the best available seats for our guests, we understand that this does not make the experience any less frustrating when the seats are separated or affected by pillars. We’re also sorry that you felt the price did not reflect the service you received. Your feedback is very valuable to us, and we will review this booking process with our team to see how we can communicate the seating situation and service inclusions more clearly before guests book. We sincerely apologize for the disappointment and appreciate your honest feedback. We hope you’ll give us another opportunity in the future to provide you with a much better experience. 🙏

    +

Around 15 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Da Nang and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Da Nang?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Da Nang?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
