This was Shannon Scott's original 1990's tour that started everything! Colonial Park Cemetery serves as the biggest story graveyard in the whole Historic District! Its the oldest patch of city land one can visit and where you'll see materials far older than the surrounding Victorian City. In Savannah's colonial hours, this is where every town meeting, picnic, wedding, duel and public execution was conducted! Eventually it would be the final resting place of Gen Nathanael Greene, 2 signers of The Declaration of Independence, merchants, priests, paupers, soldiers and just about every character that gave blood, sweat and tears to the early colony and later nation. Less we forget how Yellow Fever turned it all into a mass grave resulting in the permanent closure in 1853. Discussions also extend to the Root Doctor culture ritualism, The Old City Jail, Conrad Aiken Birthplace, Dueling Grounds and all complete with visual images to enhance the experience.

Book with Viator
Taking a Viator tour provided the history of the site that a self guided tour would not have provided. I highly recommend booking with Viator, Mike was a great guide with lots of historical information.
Response from the operator: We're glad you enjoyed your time out with Chase Anderson, aka, Lazarus Bone so not sure who Mike is or isn't! All of the same, we appreciate you tagging along on the rain and look forward to having your return! Be sure to join Chase on his Wandering Historians Tour with us!

Lazarus Bone was our tour...
Lazarus Bone was our tour guide through Colonial Park Cemetery and he was marvelous. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience going through the cemetery and learning so much. It was very obvious that Mr. Bone is passionate about the history of Savannah and sharing it with those who's paths he crosses. We had a wonderful time and we highly recommend this tour. Hopefully Lazarus is risen and is able to be your guide as well.
Response from the operator: Pamela! How'd we miss such a highly personal and colorful review? You're the absolute apple of the day! Grand compliments! Lazarus or Chase, is a true treasure of Savannah and his craft so please know while my reply not so timely, I've shared the review with him today, already! Many blessings on your life and please join him on his Wandering Historians Tour next round!

Great history Lesson
Ken did a wonderful job of combining Savanna history with the graves and placards we were seeing within this old cemetery. A very nice tour.

A Fun, Amazing and Informative Tour!
We had Kenneth as our tour guide, he was so amazing! Very knowledgeable and patient with all of our questions. Would recommend him as your tour guide for any of the Shannon Scott Tours. We ended up having just our small group on the tour and that was really nice.

Savannah's Colonial Park Cemetery God's Acre Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Savannah.
How much does Savannah's Colonial Park Cemetery God's Acre Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $37 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Savannah usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Savannah's Colonial Park Cemetery God's Acre Tour take?
+
Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Savannah is not rushed.
Is Savannah's Colonial Park Cemetery God's Acre Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Savannah, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Savannah's Colonial Park Cemetery God's Acre Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Savannah's Colonial Park Cemetery God's Acre Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Savannah's Colonial Park Cemetery God's Acre Tour?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Savannah can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Savannah and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Savannah's Colonial Park Cemetery God's Acre Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Savannah within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Savannah?
+
Savannah is a walking city with a dense guide market, which means quality spread is wide. Historic district walks, Bonaventure Cemetery trips, trolley hop-on routes and ghost tours with tavern access make up most bookings. Outty Ranking leans on licensed-guide status and group size, since the squares get loud once a tour passes twenty people. On Outty we rank every Savannah experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Bonaventure Cemetery Walking Tour with Transportation, Historic Savannah Guided Walking Tour, Haunted Savannah Booze and Boos Ghost Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Savannah?
+
March to May for azaleas, or October to November for cool evenings. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Savannah?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
