Island is beautiful but tour operator is horrible.
This tour is the most unorganized tour ive ever been on. First of all, they state that they have a English guides, they in fact do not. The guides MAYBE understand 5 Engkish words, if youre lucky. The entire time they were speaking Spanish and we had no idea what was being said, when we asked what they said they would literally answer with 1 word that didnt even make sense. Luckithere was another guest that spoke both languages and interpreted for us. They pi k you up from your hotel and then drop you off at a gas station and make you wait for about 30 minutes before the rest of the help arrives. They came over to check us in and when I told them we didnt understand Spanish they walked away. Then they told us that we still owed $100 which was incorrect since it was paid in full days prior, luckily I had a copy of the receipt showing it was paid in full. You get in a shuttle to a large parking lot and then have to walk about 10 minutes down a dort road to get to the boat pick up point, all while other companies are driving their customers to the shore. The tour stated alcoholic drinks when it was a 2 Oz cup of coke or sprite and a shot of something, no other choices available. You then get to the island and have to walk from ine side to the other to where they have a cold, terrible, buffet. But you have to sit and wait 10-15 minutes for them to bring all of the cold food out since they weren't prepared for our arrival. The drinks in the island are not included, $10 for a 4 Oz pina coloda. They tell you when to be back to the drop off point and then they aren't even there for 30 plus minutes after the time they told us to be at the pick up point. You are then put in a little boat, not the catamaran, and bounce thru the water for about 30 minutes until you get back to the starting point. Once again, you are not met with a shuttle, you then walk back to the shuttle, another 10 minute walk or so. I would not recommend this tour to anyone! It was a total disappointment.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We truly appreciate your comments, as they help us continuously improve the experience we provide to our clients. All of our group activities operate with a designated meeting point at a gas station, where guests from different hotels are gathered and organized before the excursion begins. In some cases, clients may still have a remaining balance to be paid on the day of the tour, which is verified during check-in. Nevertheless, we would like to emphasize that our guides do speak English and are fully certified, holding the required permits from the Ministry of Tourism to operate. We understand how frustrating the situation you described can be, and we sincerely regret that your experience did not meet expectations. Please know that we are currently working on making improvements, including changing our supplier, with the goal of offering our clients a more private, higher-quality experience while maintaining the value of a group tour. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us, and we are committed to using it to enhance our services. Kind regards

Terrible experience
Do not book with this company. The tour was crowded and the island was unfortunately very commercialized beautiful but commercialized they made a stop at two different gift shops one on the way to the island one on the way back, which we did not ask for it was very frustrating to have to sit through people shopping when all you wanted to do is get back to the resort we are not made aware of these stops And it was a very frustrating. 12 hour day. Although I appreciate the Spanish language there wasn’t anybody there who spoke English so that in itself was very difficult and then on the way home, we stopped in the middle of a damn highway to try to get on a different bus that left us, but then did come back. It was somewhat frightening and as stated earlier, do not book this trip through via tour I would definitely do a private tour if anyone’s going to go on this trip.
Response from the operator: Dear Eileen, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Your comments help us identify areas where we need to improve our information and coordination to ensure a smoother experience for our guests. While our team strives to provide assistance in multiple languages, we understand how challenging it can be when communication doesn’t meet the standards expected. We are taking steps to reinforce multilingual support moving forward. We value your feedback and appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention. Your comments are essential for us to continue improving the quality of our services. If you would be willing, we would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly so we can better understand your experience and work toward a resolution. Thank you again for your time, and we hope to have the chance to offer you a much better experience in the future. Kind regards

Why this scores 52
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Saona Island by Catamaran: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Punta Cana.
How much does Saona Island by Catamaran cost?
+
Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Punta Cana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Saona Island by Catamaran take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Punta Cana is not rushed.
Is Saona Island by Catamaran worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.3/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Punta Cana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Saona Island by Catamaran?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Saona Island by Catamaran suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Saona Island by Catamaran?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Punta Cana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Punta Cana and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Saona Island by Catamaran start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Punta Cana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Punta Cana?
+
On Outty we rank every Punta Cana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Punta Cana Zipline - 8 lines and a suspenseful hanging bridge, Punta Cana Buggy or ATV Tour with Macao Beach, Cave and Tastings, Buggy Excursion to Macau Beach and Natural Cave. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Punta Cana?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Punta Cana?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
