What you'll see and do
Santorini Volcano
The boat departs daily from the old port of Fira at 11.00 in the morning. After a 10-minute short trip, the boat arrives at the port of Erinia which is the name of the small bay of the active volcano. The ship will remain there for 1 hour and 15 minutes and if you want you can follow the small path to reach the top where the active craters are located. There you can take pictures, see the rocks still smoking and where it strongly smells brimstone.

Hot Springs
After your return back to the ship,we depart for the island of Palaia Kameni where the hot springs are located , the famous natural mud baths, which have been created after the volcanic eruptions. In the small bay of St.Nickolas, the water temperature varies from 30 to 35 degrees Celcius , as it constantly mixes with the normal seawater. The ship remains here about 30 minutes and you have the opportunity for swimming. It’s quite a time since there is no beach but you should climb down the stairs of the boat. You have to swim about 30 meters until the interior of the small bay of the Hot Springs. After the swimming at the thermal waters, the boat returns back to the same port at 14.00.

You get what you pay for. Not recommended.
I’m writing this review as I am finishing up the tour with this group with so much disappointment. This is a horrible tour company. You will get what you pay for. If you want a better experience might as well just pay $10-$20 more and get a better experience. They don’t even give you time to really swim. They spent the most time hiking up to the volcano area, but it’s not one of those amazing views either it’s just very disappointing. Maybe these people who gave good reviews have never been to such places that they were awed by the views but it’s just hiking up the dirt. And the highlight that we expected was the Hot Springs but the water was cold and they don’t even give you enough time to swim 30 m and when you get there, you don’t even get to enjoy because you have to come right back. 30 minutes is not enough time for Hot Springs experience at all. More than half of the time you are swimming and waiting for other people to swim. Book somewhere else.

We were not told that you...
We were not told that you would have to take a cable car down to where the boat loads and also if we went swimming in the hot springs that our bathing suits may get stained
Response from the operator: Thank you for your review! We truly appreciate your feedback. We are constantly striving to improve our services and communication, so we will certainly take your comments into account to better prepare our future guests. We hope to welcome you again soon!

Great trip
Excellent trip. Lovely wooden boat, short crossing to volcano island where we stuck with the guide who took us around the island and gave lots of information. Deep water to swim over to the hot springs so was glad of a noodle. Wasn’t as hot as I had expected and we could have done with more time here but was great. As people say it will stain your clothes! Old port of fira rather chaotic at pick up as so many coming in off the cruise ships
Response from the operator: We really appreciate your feedback and are glad you had a great experience.

This was one of our...
This was one of our favorite tours of our trip. Although it was hot, climbing a volcano and swimming in hot springs were memorable.
Response from the operator: We’re happy to hear you had a wonderful time! Thanks for sharing your experience.

Feeling Hot Hot Hot
Friendly boat staff and plenty of time to explore the island that gave a lot of information about volcanoes. The Hot Springs was amazing as the clay like material on the bottom made my skin so smooth. Make sure you wear an old bathing suit as it will get stained.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your great review! We are happy to hear you enjoyed the volcano tour and the Hot Springs. Thank you also for sharing that helpful tip about the bathing suit with other travelers. We hope to welcome you onboard again soon!

Why this scores 63
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Santorini - Volcano and Hot springs: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Santorini.
How much does Santorini - Volcano and Hot springs cost?
+
Prices start at $15 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Santorini usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Santorini - Volcano and Hot springs take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Santorini is not rushed.
Is Santorini - Volcano and Hot springs worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 32 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Santorini, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Santorini - Volcano and Hot springs?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Santorini - Volcano and Hot springs suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Santorini - Volcano and Hot springs?
+
Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Santorini can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Santorini and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Santorini - Volcano and Hot springs start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Santorini within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Santorini?
+
On Outty we rank every Santorini experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half Day Premium Catamaran Cruise in Santorini including Oia, Private Santorini Tailor Made - Choice of the Guest!, Private Classic Santorini Panorama: Visit Top Destinations. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Santorini?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Santorini?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
