A Ghoul Night in Santa Barbara

My daughter and I had such a memorable experience on the Paranormal Pairing wine and ghost tour in Santa Barbara. Professor Julie is incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the area, and she brings it to life with fascinating stories and compelling photos of paranormal events that truly draw you in. What made the tour especially unique is how interactive it is—Julie genuinely enjoys hearing about her guests’ own paranormal experiences and thoughtfully weaves some of those stories into future tours, which adds a personal and ever-evolving element. Beyond her expertise, Julie has a wonderful personality. She’s warm, engaging, and an exceptional storyteller who keeps you captivated the entire time. The combination of local history, eerie tales, and great wine makes for a really special evening. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone interested in the paranormal—or just looking for a unique and entertaining night in Santa Barbara. My daughter and I are already looking forward to trying more of Julie’s tours the next time we’re in town.

Response from the operator: My favorite Mother and Daughter "paranormal team!" Thank you for being my guests and taking the time and care in writing this review. We had such an amazing time. The paranormal experiences around horses in different locations (from either the Spanish, Mexican, and U.S. eras) in the sacred area of Santa Barbara, was truly amazing! Looking forward to seeing you both soon. Thoughtfully, Julie

    Paranormal Pairing

My wife and I do a lot of ghost tours. Julie is a wonderful, knowledgeable guide who spends a lot of time with her tours explaining the haunted history of Santa Barbara. The wine is delightful and Julie is a great companion and generous with her time. We will attend again!

Response from the operator: Thank you for the time and thoughtfulness in writing a review. I had such an amazing time (and so did our visiting ghosts) with both of you. I learned a great deal from our tour. You two are amazing and always welcome to join any tour I have scheduled as my guests!

    Great and Unique Experience

Very unique experience. Very Santa Barbara! I've done several ghost tours before in other cities but this one is very unique.

Response from the operator: It was lovely to meet you and have you on my tour. Thank you for sharing your experiences on other ghost tours and most of all for joining mine. Come back as my guest for a second tour if the timing works out. Julie

Santa Barbara "Wine Tasting History & Mystery & Legends Tour": questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Santa Barbara.

How much does Santa Barbara "Wine Tasting History & Mystery & Legends Tour" cost?

    +

Prices start at $95 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Santa Barbara usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Santa Barbara "Wine Tasting History & Mystery & Legends Tour" take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Santa Barbara is not rushed.

Is Santa Barbara "Wine Tasting History & Mystery & Legends Tour" worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 61 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Santa Barbara, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Santa Barbara "Wine Tasting History & Mystery & Legends Tour"?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Santa Barbara "Wine Tasting History & Mystery & Legends Tour" suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Santa Barbara "Wine Tasting History & Mystery & Legends Tour"?

    +

Around 21 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Santa Barbara can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Santa Barbara and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Santa Barbara "Wine Tasting History & Mystery & Legends Tour" start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Santa Barbara within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Santa Barbara?

    +

Santa Barbara runs wine tours into the Santa Ynez Valley, harbour sailing and whale watching, Channel Islands day trips, and Spanish colonial walking tours through the Presidio and Mission. Tasting-room access and group size make the biggest difference in wine tours here. On Outty we rank every Santa Barbara experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Santa Barbara Electric Bike Tour, Kayak Tour of Santa Barbara with Experienced Guide, Small-Group Wine Tour in Santa Barbara to Exclusive Vineyards. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Santa Barbara?

    +

March to June and September to November, dodging the May and June marine layer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Santa Barbara?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
