    Enjoyable trip

Our driver Marco picked us up at our hotel on time and gave us information about our trip to Volterra and on to San Gimignano. The van was cool and comfortable and we enjoyed the entire trip.

Response from the operator: Very glad to hear that, hope to see you again dear!

Nice drivers but essentially a taxi service NOT a tour.

Nice day and the drivers are great but this is just a car ride not a tour. You are dropped at the city gates with zero guidance so plan ahead! Make sure you have done your own research and know what you want to do and where you want to go. We were disappointed as I thought there would be guidance. Lunch was at a very average spot-I’d ask for more time in San Gimignano and find lunch in a cafe. I love the area and it was nice to have someone drive us, but it is essentially a taxi service.

Response from the operator: Dear customer, thank you for your indications that never represent the reality that many others report. The fact is that you have chosen to do a very restrictive tour because the cities chosen cannot be passed by vehicles but only on foot, being surrounded by ancient walls with a ban on transit. The drivers are not licensed guides for the towns who can accompany you around the cities... if you wanted one, you could have asked a few days before and paid someone on site. Thank you

    Great tour with Massimo

We had a wonderful time with our tour guide Massimo. He spent a lot of valuable time showing us around and sharing his knowledge about the history. Thank you Massimo!

Response from the operator: thank you

Beautiful Area-Less Crowded, A Perfect Day

My family and I have visited the Tuscan region many times. We were looking to visit an area a little further outside Florence. This tour fit the bill. We were able to decide how to split the time spent in both towns. We managed to include a quick wine tasting within the timeframe-a perfect day! Symonne, our guide/driver was very accommodating. He allowed us the level of independence we desired-while providing history and local knowledge. Know that the beauty & history of the region is well represented in this tour, yet the crowds are much, much less. This is a great way to see a bit of the countryside in comfort.

Response from the operator: Thank you my dearesst! Happy to hear news from you!!!!

Excellent private tour to Volterra / San Gimignano

My wife and I arranged a private tour from our hotel in Florence to Volterra and San Gimignano through Chianti Drivers and Trip Advisor. We don't really like being herded around in large tour group and were basically looking for a driver who could take us to places we wanted to go and give us some useful general information about them. We could then explore in our own time and at our own pace. Our driver was Alex who was very knowledgeable, very personable did an excellent job. Volterra was a really beautiful and unspoilt town largely free of tourists. There was plenty of interest there and it was quite a relief to get away from the crowds in Florence. On the recommendation of our driver / guide we had lunch at Don Beta which was really excellent. San Gimignano was, of course, much more of a tourist destination but probably not as crowded in mid October as at other times. In spite of the bustling atmosphere it is still a remarkable place and well worth seeing. We paid over £400 for the day but we felt it was worth it as it was certainly a key highlight of our week in Tuscany and it would have been difficult to get to Volterra by other means.

San Gimignano and Volterra Tour by Private Luxury Van: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Florence.

How much does San Gimignano and Volterra Tour by Private Luxury Van cost?

    +

Prices start at $780 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Florence usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does San Gimignano and Volterra Tour by Private Luxury Van take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Florence is not rushed.

Is San Gimignano and Volterra Tour by Private Luxury Van worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Florence, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule San Gimignano and Volterra Tour by Private Luxury Van?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is San Gimignano and Volterra Tour by Private Luxury Van suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book San Gimignano and Volterra Tour by Private Luxury Van?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Florence can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Florence and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does San Gimignano and Volterra Tour by Private Luxury Van start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Florence within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Florence?

    +

On Outty we rank every Florence experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Best tour in Florence: Renaissance & Medici Tales - guided by a STORYTELLER, Florence Pizza or Pasta Class & Gelato Making at a Tuscan Farm, Small group Tuscan Wineries, Olive Oil & Gourmet Lunch or Dinner. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Florence?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Florence?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
