Grateful we went to Wiellczka Salt Mine
Maciej recommended the Wiellczka salt mine tour and it was great. Maciej drove us to site, providing interesting background on the location and history, secured our tickets and brought us back to Krakow. Wonderful trip.

not what we paid for !!
This trip was awful there were around 50/60 people in our group so a lot of pushing and shoving going on baring in mind how many steps there are. There were also a lot of kids in our group who didn’t quite understand that when the guide was talking we needed to listen - this isn’t down to the children as kids will be kids but the parents could have had a bit of respect for other people in the group and not let their kids run wild. The guide wore a mask the entire time so extremely hard to understand what she was saying (even though she praised how healthy the air was so don’t quite get the whole mask thing but hey honesty to their own! ) She was also very repetitive, there’s only so many times you can hear how the sculptures are made out of salt. We paid for private luxury pick up and private tour paying over £70 per person I’m sorry but when you show a picture of a Mercedes and a Fiat turns up it’s slightly disappointing….even more so when the driver gets you there 30 mins early and you have to wait in the freezing queue even when we thought we had been sold a private tour with skip the line tickets !! Then on the return journey he has to slam his breaks on nearly throwing us into the front of the car as he’s driving too fast and says “oops Sunday drivers” it just ended a very disappointing visit Not the experience we expected for the amount of money we were charged.
Response from the operator: We are very sorry that we did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify a few points, because most of what you describe does not apply to our service. The tour you booked was a tour to the Salt Mine and included private transport and tickets to the Mine. The Salt Mine is one of the most visited places in the vicinity of Krakow. Especially on weekends there are even more people. The Salt Mine is responsible for organizing the tour itself (e.g. the number of people in the group and guide services). Similarly, we are not responsible for the behavior of children and parents in the group. You made the reservation very late, because in the late afternoon of the previous day. We managed to organize tickets for you and confirm the tour. We always leave Krakow an hour earlier, in case of traffic jams and so that you have a moment for a toilet, sometimes a quick coffee before the tour. I apologize for the traffic situation. We have already discussed this with the driver. We always try to drive very safely and previous reviews mostly attest to this. Sometimes, unfortunately, there are situations on the road where sudden braking is unavoidable. However, in the offer we also do not state anywhere that you will have a Mercedes car at your disposal. You were picked up from the hotel for the escape in a Fiat Scudo minivan, which is a very comfortable car, has a lot of space and all of our guests were very happy with this car. Sculptures and history were amazing!
The beauty of all the statues carved from salt were amazing! I really enjoyed the history of the salt mines.
Response from the operator: Dear Leslie, Thank you for the opinion. That is amazing that you enjoyed the tour with our company. Hope to see you in the future! Best regards, Joanna Poland Active

The church is magnificent
It was a fascinating tour and the guide was good. There was a huge amount of walking was during the tour, but this was expected. The stairs were fine as only went down. At the end there was a long long walk to the lift which was in a neighbouring shaft and brought us out a significant distance from the original entrance - we had difficulty finding our way back to the taxi. Wear very sensible shoes!!
Response from the operator: Dear Victoria, We are grateful for your opinion. We invite you to use our service in the future in order to see another beautiful places in Poland. Best regards, Joanna Poland Active

A must see
Fab tour. Very glad I booked through Viator. Was so easy and driver arrived on time. Was collected from the apartment and taken there. The driver waited with us in the queue and left when we entered. He was thee waiting when we came out. The tour was very interesting. Just a warning to anyone who is claustrophobic, the only way to leave the tour is up through a lift shaft which is very small and you’re tightly squeezed in with others. It gets to the top very quickly though. If I’m Kracow it’s a must see. We were returned straight back to our apartment in a nice comfy clean private taxi. I would definitely recommend seeing the Salt Mine and also recommend booking through Viator. So easy and takes the stress out of getting there.
Response from the operator: Dear Yvonne, Thank you for sharing your emotions with us. That is wonderfully to hear that we have met your expectations. We hope that you will use our service in the future. Best regards, Joanna Poland Active

Is Salt Mine in Wieliczka with private transport, tour from Krakow worth it?
+

How far in advance should I book Salt Mine in Wieliczka with private transport, tour from Krakow?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Krakow can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Krakow and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Krakow?
+
On Outty we rank every Krakow experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Complete Cracow Bike Tour (small group of maximum 15 people!), Krakow–Zakopane: Cable Car, Chocholow Baths, Cheese & Vodka, Krakow: Zakopane & Hot Springs Tour with Cable Car (Hotel Pickup). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Krakow?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Krakow?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
