Once in a lifetime experience

We did the 4 day Salkantay Trek + 1 day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu with our guide Gijerma, and it was truly a once in a lifetime experience. The trek was challenging, but Gijerma kept us motivated the whole way through with his energy and encouragement. He was incredibly knowledgeable, always ready with interesting facts about the history, nature, and culture along the route, and he handled every problem quickly and calmly. The whole company was so well organized and prepared, from the pick up to every little detail along the way. The food was 10/10, with plenty of options even for vegetarians. I can only recommend booking with this company, it was an amazing trip from start to finish!

Couldn’t recommend more!

We were recommended this tour company by a friend, and we are so glad we went with them. The organisation was seamless, with clear communication for the morning pick up. Our guide, Guillermo, was fantastic - charming and knowledge, he did. Great job at managing our energy exertion throughout - especially on day two which is particularly tough. The food and accommodation were great (we couldn’t believe the places we were staying in, the views were unmatched). Our chef even made me a surprise birthday cake for dinner, even though I had only told our guide that it was my birthday that afternoon (the extra effort was really appreciated). I couldn’t recommend this company more!!

Loved the staff, loved the expereince

After reviewing the many tour operators, we settled on Oki Doki because their options and inclusions seemed like good value for money and they had a good number of reviews both here and on Viator (but we booked directly with the company because there was a more generous refund policy that way, whereas a Viator booking was non-refundable). We appreciated that this company was smaller since it meant they were very attentive and accommodating the whole time. Our guide, Guillermo, was kind, well experienced, and very dedicated to helping us have the best time possible. I've worked with guides all over the world (in both professional and personal travel arrangements) and have had a wide range of experiences. I would recommend him as a guide, because he seemed to genuinely enjoy our group and seemed like he loved the job (e.g. as he learned what each person on the trip was interested in, he would make a point of engaging them on that topic more. I love plants, so he started showing me more along the way and making sure I saw different and unique specimen along the trail). I've also worked as a tour guide in several countries, and I know how physically and mentally demanding it can be. Because Oki Doki keeps their groups small (less than 10) Guillermo and other staff were able to make adjustments as needed along the way, and I feel like he consistently did his utmost to make the trip enjoyable (and even helped a number of hikers who had been lost by the bigger groups other companies were running). Loved the staff, loved the expereince. Will definitely use this group again if I'm back in the area.

Wonderful experience

This trek is one my best experience in Peru. The Okidoki team is the best ! Food, accommodations, organisation… everything was even better than what we expected. Besides that, this small agency gathers wonderful human beings who will make your trip something really special. Thank you so much for everything !

Amazing Salkantay Trek Experience

I did the 4-day Salkantay Trek with two friends and it was an unforgettable experience! The group was small and friendly, the food cooked by our chef was delicious and very local, and a horseman carried our bags so we could fully enjoy the hike. The accommodations were excellent – the first night we slept facing the mountains and under a sky full of stars, truly magical. Our guide was fantastic, sharing fascinating stories about the Incas and Machu Picchu throughout the trek. This family-run agency took great care of us, and we even booked other excursions with them because everything was so well organized. We highly recommend them if you want an authentic, personal and memorable adventure in Peru!

Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 4 Days (Return by Car): questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.

How much does Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 4 Days (Return by Car) cost?

+

Prices start at $411 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 4 Days (Return by Car) take?

+

Plan for about 96 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.

Is Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 4 Days (Return by Car) worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 38 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 4 Days (Return by Car)?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 4 Days (Return by Car) suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 96-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 4 Days (Return by Car)?

+

Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 96-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 4 Days (Return by Car) start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cusco?

+

On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Full-Day Humantay Lake Trek (Meals Included), Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cusco?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cusco?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
