Stunning trek, amazing guides, good food, fine accommodations and okay office

We did the 5D/4N Salkantay Trek with Quchuas Expeditions and had a great time! Along the way we met lovely people. Fernando and Asensio, our guides, were absolutely amazing (10/10). They were always up for a joke and very helpful regarding any questions or needs. While Asensio left after day two with part of the group for a shorter trip, Fernando led us through the rest of the trek. He knows those mountains and the nature surounding it so well, it is super interesting to learn from him and we felt safe at any given time. Thank you Fernando for everything!!! Also a big thank you to our horseman Juan with his cute dog Bobby who tiredlessly and to the cook Armando who passionately prepared amazing food for us with minimal kitchen tools! The communication with the office was okay. A negative point is the different information on their channels about the packing list, etc. This led to a lot of confusion on our side and to cold nights for some of our newly met friends (they had no sleeping bag for a night of 4 degrees without an oven and only blanklets). This issue could definitely be solved with a uniform packing list and clear communication. Also the intinery is not fully correct regarding the distances... it seems the office declares areal distances and not the real walking distances. The accommodations were good. The first and the third one were very nice. The second one has not been cleaned (due to some issues on the side of the camp ground operator) before we arrived and after day 2 which is the hardest, we would have really appreciated a clean dome and a hot shower. After an intervention from our side and Fernando, the issue has been more or less solved. The last accommodation in Aguas Calientes was noisy and simple but all-in-all okay. All in all it was a great experience and we would recommend the tour to our friends.

Amazing Salkantay trek!

We had an amazing experience on the Salkantay trek with Queuchas Expeditions! Trek - fantastic hiking, spectacular scenery and an agenda which nicely balances the harder hikes with downtime and easier days. Staff - second to none! Nildo is one of the best tour guides I have ever had; he brought incredible enthusiasm and energy to our trek (no matter the weather!), was always at hand to solve any problem we might have, and went above and beyond to ensure everyone had the best experience possible. The whole staff team was fantastic. Food - the food was high quality and varied throughout our trek. Our cooks (Armando and Herman) generally did a great job of accommodating dietary requirements (vegetarian and gluten free). Accommodation - generally very good and comfortable, though on occasion we had to request standard items that were not already provided (e.g. towels, toilet paper). Logistics - overall our trip was well organised and ran very smoothly. We especially appreciate the effort made by Quechas Expeditions to ensure we could collect our large bags from Cusco on the night we returned (despite it being late). Would recommend!

Unforgettable 5 day Salkantay trek

We had an incredible adventure on the 5 day salkantay trek to Machu Picchu. I would strongly recommend booking with quechuas expeditions! Nildo was an amazing guide, he brought so much positive energy to the group and he really went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed every minute of the trek! We learned so much from him about the incas and the local nature. The food was delicious with good portion sizes! I am vegetarian and coeliac and the chefs, Armando and Herman, took great care to accommodate my diet and made separate gluten free veggie options for me when needed. I do recommend bringing snacks though! Thanks again to the team for making this such an unforgettable experience!

Fantastic Experience

It was the most amazing experience. Our guide Bel was very knowledgeable of the landscape and the local flora and fauna. Our cook, Isaco, prepared excellent meals which really powered us through the tricky parts. My friend and I had been numpties, showing up without booking Machu Picchu. Quechuas managed to sort us a ticket quite last minute. We could not be more grateful.

Challenging and rewarding trek with amazing people

An amazing 5 days! The trek is really tough, both because of the up- and downhills but also the altitude. So worth it though! The views are insane and the Salkantay Trekking team made sure that everything went smoothly with transport, food and accomodations. Our guide José was incredible. He took good care of all the participants in the group, kept us well informed about upcoming activities, and shared interesting facts along the route. He was very supportive and enthusiastic. We were lucky with an amazing group and perfect weather. I highly recommend this for anyone who is up for a really rewarding challenge!

Salkantay Trek 5 days to Machu Picchu by Glamping Sky Lodge Dome: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.

How much does Salkantay Trek 5 days to Machu Picchu by Glamping Sky Lodge Dome cost?

+

Prices start at $762 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Salkantay Trek 5 days to Machu Picchu by Glamping Sky Lodge Dome take?

+

Plan for about 120 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.

Is Salkantay Trek 5 days to Machu Picchu by Glamping Sky Lodge Dome worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 199 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Salkantay Trek 5 days to Machu Picchu by Glamping Sky Lodge Dome?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Salkantay Trek 5 days to Machu Picchu by Glamping Sky Lodge Dome suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 120-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Salkantay Trek 5 days to Machu Picchu by Glamping Sky Lodge Dome?

+

Around 70 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Salkantay Trek 5 days to Machu Picchu by Glamping Sky Lodge Dome start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cusco?

+

On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cusco?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cusco?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
