About this experience

Most tastings let you sample. Ours lets you create. Taste and compare 8 carefully selected premium sakes from breweries across Japan, then blend your own one-of-a-kind bottle to take home. It is a well-designed program that allows you to perceive the differences through direct experience, even without specialized knowledge of sake. — a process past guests have called "true alchemy." No sake knowledge needed, and it's just as fun for non-drinkers exploring flavor and aroma. Guided by English-speaking, sake-passionate staff in a fully indoor setting, perfect for a rainy day and just minutes from Kiyomizudera and Nishiki Market. A unique program devised by Kenshi Ueyama, the official Sake Ambassador known as "Mr. Sake." Enjoy a creative sake experience in Kyoto, Sake District !

August 24th

It was fun because I could also get to know my preferred sake by blending it for the first time.

It was fun!

It was so wonderful that I could mix sake I was interested in and create my own original sake! It's irresistible for sake lovers!

Great experience! Taste and create your own sake!

Amazing experience! Not only is it a tasting but you get to mix your own sake for your own bottle to take home (included in the price). She tells you about the history of it and is very knowledgable. Beautiful store and so happy we did it!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We're thrilled you enjoyed creating your own blend and taking home a bottle that's uniquely yours — that hands-on part is what makes this such a unique experience in Kyoto, beyond a typical sake tasting. We're also happy to hear our staff's passion for sake history came through; she'll be delighted to know it made your visit special. Thank you for the kind words about our store, and we hope to welcome you back to My Sake World again soon! — My Sake World

Sake tasting experience

I was able to sample eight types of sake and learned that sake has a wide variety of flavors. It was also fun to choose 2 to 4 types from the samples and create an original blend.

Response from the operator: ——My Sake World

First sake blend

You explained it very carefully. It was fun.

Response from the operator: この度は口コミのご投稿をいただき、誠にありがとうございます。スタッフの説明を楽しんでいただけたとのこと、大変嬉しく存じます。日本酒と一言でいっても、蔵や造りによって驚くほど個性が異なります。そうした奥深さを、8種類の飲み比べとオリジナルブレンドを通じて楽しみながら感じていただけるよう、スタッフ一同これからも丁寧なご案内を心がけてまいります。またのご来店を心よりお待ちしております。 ——My Sake World

Sake Tasting & Original Sake Creating Experience in Kyoto: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kyoto.

How much does Sake Tasting & Original Sake Creating Experience in Kyoto cost?

+

Prices start at $3900 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kyoto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sake Tasting & Original Sake Creating Experience in Kyoto take?

+

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kyoto is not rushed.

Is Sake Tasting & Original Sake Creating Experience in Kyoto worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 37 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kyoto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sake Tasting & Original Sake Creating Experience in Kyoto?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sake Tasting & Original Sake Creating Experience in Kyoto suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 20. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Sake Tasting & Original Sake Creating Experience in Kyoto?

+

Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kyoto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kyoto and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sake Tasting & Original Sake Creating Experience in Kyoto start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kyoto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kyoto?

+

On Outty we rank every Kyoto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kyoto : Gion Make Your Own Chopsticks with Engraving Option, Award-Winning Authentic Ramen Making Experience in Kyoto, Hidden Kyoto E-Biking tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kyoto?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kyoto?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
