    Did not meet expectation

This did not meet anywhere near the expectations. This was not sailing. The music was being blasted way too loud the entire boat ride, there was never any mention of how long arrival would take to the islands and this was mostly a boat ride. The stop at Isla Mujeres was nearly pointless as it was not enough time to shop, as was told we could do. Isla Contoy was beautiful and the food service was good, but the total trip itself was less than enjoyable.

New World Travel is the supplier, not the tour guide. CONTOY ADVENTURES will provide your tour. Photos are misleading.

One bright star for the beautiful Isla Contoy and the authentic food that was served on the island. We traveled with a group of 19 people and I have to say....every single one of us was disappointed by the communication of this tour. It started with how long this tour would actually take and the fact that we booked with a company called New Choice Travel, but we were picked up & guided by Contoy Adventures. This was advertised as a smooth sailing adventure and it was more like a long, noisy & uncomfortable transport to the Isles. The guide spoke almost the entire time and we couldn't make out most of what was expressed - the sound system was competing with the ocean waves and the majority of what was spoken was in Spanish. The one tiny bathroom was beyond disgusting with no soap or water available. Our first stop in Isla Mujeres was rushed and chaotic for our large group. We had under an hour to walk to the beach, grab a quick drink and walk back. 19 out of 19 people found it miserable and exhausting. The saving grace of this boat ride was the beautiful Isla Contoy and the authentic food that was served on the island. The distance between islands is 30 km and then another 30 km back to the dock in Punta Sam. I had sent a private email several days prior asking about the return time and got a timely response from Eduardo Hau over at New World Travel that stated; "drop off at the hotel is around 5:00 pm depending on the traffic". Not even close. We had a birthday dinner reservation that was missed and we were left trying to get a very large group moved around on short notice. The short story here is that we spent over $3000 for a mediocre tour and we are not happy. We did our research and booked a tour with New Choice Travel which has a 5-star rating. The actual tour company is Contoy Adventures - who is clearly not a 5-star company. The name Contoy Adventures doesn’t show up on any of our reservations or emailed literature. We feel duped. We asked for a refund and we were denied.

Best day trip , worth the cost and more.

We had an amazing time in this tour, the tour company was very organized, we were picked up in playa del carmen and dropped off in the same location. The trip to isla Mujeres and isla Contoy were amazing, the snorkeling was great and got to see some reef sharks, Manta Ray's, alot of turtles and fish. The lunch in isla Contoy was really good. The staff was amazing they went out of their way to make sure we all had a safe and great time. I would recommend this tour for anyone who is looking to get out of the city and enjoy the beauty of Quintana Roo. We had to kids below 8 years and they had a blast as well. I will surely use them the next time I'm here again.

Response from the operator: Thank you Andrew for the good comments!. We are very glad, that your experience with us was that way. Is always a pleasure for us to serve our customers! Come back soon!

Sailing at Isla Contoy & Isla Mujeres! Snorkel at Ixlache Reef: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.

How much does Sailing at Isla Contoy & Isla Mujeres! Snorkel at Ixlache Reef cost?

    +

Prices start at $133 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sailing at Isla Contoy & Isla Mujeres! Snorkel at Ixlache Reef take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.

Is Sailing at Isla Contoy & Isla Mujeres! Snorkel at Ixlache Reef worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.4/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sailing at Isla Contoy & Isla Mujeres! Snorkel at Ixlache Reef?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sailing at Isla Contoy & Isla Mujeres! Snorkel at Ixlache Reef suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Sailing at Isla Contoy & Isla Mujeres! Snorkel at Ixlache Reef?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sailing at Isla Contoy & Isla Mujeres! Snorkel at Ixlache Reef start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cancun?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
