3. Estadi Olimpic

   The Montjuïc Olympic Stadium is Barcelona's main Olympic facility. It is home to concerts and major sporting events. The second-largest stadium in the world at the time, it was designed for the 1936 Olympic Games, but due to the political situation of the time they never took place there and the stadium fell into disuse until it was remodeled for the 1992 Olympic Games.

8. Museu d'Historia de Catalunya

   Pass by the Catalonia History Museum, standing over the Barcelona waterfront. The historic brick building that now houses the museum was originally built in the 1880s to store goods arriving at the port. Since getting a facelift in anticipation of the 1992 Olympics, the building now houses also several street-level bars and restaurants.

11. La Barceloneta

    Pass by the Barceloneta, once the home of fishermen, people associated with the fishing trade and the metal industry, and nowadays one of the city's most visited and popular districts. The neighborhood, with its narrow, rectilinear streets, was built on a military grid structure to provide accommodation for the former inhabitants of La Ribera who had lost their homes due to the construction of the Citadel Park.

12. Playa de La Barceloneta

    Located in the traditional fishing district, this is one of Barcelona's oldest and best-loved beaches. It is thought to have inspired Miguel de Cervantes as the setting for the fight between Don Quixote and the Knight of the White Moon. It was here that the knight errant was finally defeated and abandoned his quest.

17. City Hall (Casa de la Ciutat / Ayuntamiento)

    City Hall, also known as the “Casa de la Ciutat” (the house of the city), stands on one side of the Plaça Sant Jaume, right in the middle of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter and in front of the Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya. The neoclassical façade conceals Gothic gems such as the historic Great Hall, or Saló de Cent, designed by Pere Llobet and built in the 14th century.

21. Catedral de Barcelona

    Pass by the Barcelona Cathedral and discover its façade and the combination of Romanesque, Gothic and neo-Gothic styles due to the fact that it was built over six centuries. Funded by donations from the medieval brotherhoods and guilds, the building work in Santa Creu commenced in 1298 and was completed around 1890, following the original plans, in the neo-Gothic style.

24. L'Eixample District

    Get back on the road and drive through the Eixample district, designed by Ildefons Cerdà after 1895, to expand the city. (The word “Eixample” actually means “expansion” in Catalan). Passing by the streets of this elegant neighborhood, you will note that Cerdà’s concept of urban planning was revolutionary and utopian.

25. Passeig de Gracia

    Along the way, pass through Passeig de Gràcia, with its typical Catalan architecture. The avenue is home to the most remarkable façades of modernist buildings, including Gaudi’s La Pedrera, Casa Batlló and Domènech’s Casa Lleó - Morera or Cadafalch’s Casa Ametller.
