About this experience
Our safari offering is authentic and small scale. We operate 9 seater land cruisers instead of the 20+ safari trucks used by most safari operators near Cape Town. We ensure we only have qualified guides that can create an immersive experience, not only about animals, but also about plant-life and the cultural heritage of the San people along the west coast. We embrace the fact we are not the Kruger, and pride ourselves in our beautiful varied coastal landscape and only have indigenous wildlife that can thrive in this ecosystem.

What you'll see and do
We will start the game drive at our office at the padstal. Before we leave you will have a chance for a toilet stop, and get a chance to buy any drinks you would like to bring with you during the trip (coffee/tea/water and some snacks are included). Once everyone is ready, your guide will give you a briefing on what to expect, and you will set off on a 5 min drive to the Game Reserve Gate. During the game drive you will have a chance to see Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest, Eland, Kudu, Hartebeest, Springbok, Impala, Waterbuck and Ostrich as well as a number of smaller critters indigenous to the West Coast. About halfway through your 2.5-3 hour safari, you will have a coffee/tea break, usually near the salt pans, and have a chance to stretch your legs and for kids to have a run-around on the pans. After about 2.5 hours you will head back to the padstal, where you will say your goodbyes to your guide.

half day safari
Had a day to myself in Langebaan while my partner worked so I signed up for the half day safari. They were able to accommodate me as a single traveler combined with an open tour. The tour was great, we saw pretty much all of the animals: giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, water buffalo... Our safari guide Danny was super knowledgable and made for a wonderful experience. The meeting place at the West Coast Padstall was also a surprise. Great little spot with a gift shop and some small businesses that made for a nice chill spot after the safari.

Review
There were few animals than expected
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. As with any wildlife experience, sightings can vary from day to day as the animals move freely across our 1700-hectare reserve. Some drives are quieter than others, while on other days guests are fortunate to see a wide variety of species including giraffe, zebra, eland, wildebeest and more. Our aim is to offer a peaceful small-group safari experience in a natural setting just an hour from Cape Town, and we appreciate your feedback. We hope you still enjoyed the beautiful landscapes and time spent in nature.

Great customer service...
Great customer service from beginning to end! I had to reschedule my tour due to sickness twice and the ladies were very nice to deal with. The safari was a great experience.
Response from the operator: Dear Melissa, Many thanks for your lovely review, we are very happy you got to experience West Coast Private Game Reserve with us.

Fantastic Tour with Andre
We had a tour on Saturday and were absolutely thrilled. Andre was our guide and answered every single question in great detail. He was extremely knowledgeable and was able to share a wealth of information with us. The tours are generally smaller, which I really like. There were only two of us on that day. We were also lucky enough to see almost all the animals, which of course made us the happiest. From ibex and elands to ostriches and zebras, as well as giraffes, buffalo, and a few more. Thank you, Andre, for the fantastic tour — we will definitely be back!
Response from the operator: Dear Jennifer, many thanks for your lovely review, we are very happy you enjoyed your time with us on West Coast Private Game Reserve and saw so many of the animals you wanted. We don't have Ibex, but I assume you mean Springbok, which we do have. We look forward to hosting you again!

Why this scores 71
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Safari Game Drive - Yzerfontein: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cape Town.
How much does Safari Game Drive - Yzerfontein cost?
+
Prices start at $300 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cape Town usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Safari Game Drive - Yzerfontein take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cape Town is not rushed.
Is Safari Game Drive - Yzerfontein worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 29 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cape Town, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Safari Game Drive - Yzerfontein?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Safari Game Drive - Yzerfontein suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 3. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Safari Game Drive - Yzerfontein?
+
Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cape Town can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cape Town and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Safari Game Drive - Yzerfontein start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cape Town within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cape Town?
+
On Outty we rank every Cape Town experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Penguins Day Tour from Cape Town, Table Mountain, Boulders Penguins and Cape point Day Tour, Wine Tour: Paarl, Franschhoek & Stellenbosch incl 3 wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cape Town?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cape Town?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
